Default Help with Rear Motor Mount!!

I was loosening the bolts on the rear mount when I ran into a problem! I loosened the middle bolt just fine and the other bolt just fine. But when I went to loosen the other bolt that looks flush to the mount but has a nut on the bottom, the bolt is now just spinning with the nut still attached! I goozed it with PB before I did it and I dont know whats the problem. Its the bolt on the rear mount on the right side of the car that doesnt look like a normal bolt. It has a flat top but a nut on the bottom side of it. PLEASE HELP! THANKS

I think your referring to the bolt that goes through the subframe. If this is the case, what happened is the bolt head has a star pattern on it which corresponds to a matching pattern in the engine mount (which when seated into each other prevents the bolt from spinning). You most likely tapped it out which broke the top of the bolt free from engine mount. So now it is spinning free.

What you need to do is get a pair of plyers and grab the top of the bolt, so it stops spining, and loosen it the remainder off. When you put it back together, just use a normal bolt with the original nut. You'll need to get a wrench on the bolt head to tighten it back up though. This is what I did when that happened to me why replacing my clutch. I asked my tuner about it when I was in the shop once and they said the same thing happens to them and they do the same thing I did.

You might be able to seat the bolt back into the engine mount. Mine was all knarled up by time I got it out so I was not able to.

Hope this makes sense.

I actually got it out with a pair of plyers on top like you said Rich lol and unbolted the bottom! But when we installed the new Energy Motor Mount we decided to weld it all back together so it looks nice and clean and hopefully if I ever have to remove it again it will come off in 1 piece lol! Thanks

So you welded the mount to the subframe or welded the nut to the bolt to the bracket? I was thinking about getting the bolt welded back on.

Glad to hear it worked out!

Lol we removed all the nuts and bolts. Then we cleaned them up real nice and welded the ones that had the flat circle top to the mount. Inserted the new energy suspension motor mount and bolted her in. By the way never had to remove or drop subframe to remove rear mount from the car like most people say is necessary. Just takes mad skillz and patience to fidangle it through the side and out the bottom.
