Default Hotchkis sway install

Finally got around to buying sways for the tC and want some info before I dive in.

How long did it take to put your sways on? Was the swivel ratchet really necessary, and if you had to do your install differently what would you do (or avoid)?

i only put on my rear sway but it only took 30min after the car was on jack stands. It is a easy install as long as you follow the instructions.

The front sucks! Got to drop the sub frame....good luck. I ditched them for a rear sway only setup.

Install complete! The front was time consuming. Not so much to disassemble. Using only hand tools I was able to complete disassembly in about an hour. Reassembly took about two hours, mostly struggling to get to 116 ft lbs on those cradle bolts/nuts.

Took an hour on the rears and it's solid as a rock now.

Well worth the time and effort.

The subframe wasn't so bad. I just used a floor jack to pick it back up for reassembly. Re-torquing the subframe was the worst part. I was sliding all over the floor trying to get that torque wrench to click. That and trying to get those brackets secured.

If I had to do it all over again I'd definitely use a lift and some impact tools.

I'm doing mine this up coming Wednesday.I have access to a lift and Impact at the shop I work at.I'm also doing my TRD springs the same day Maybe this will make it easier to do the front sway bar.I'll let you know how it pans out.

Should be cake on a lift with impact tools. I'm guessing you also have access to a decent spring compressor if you work at a shop. My forearms are still sore from using those screw type compressors last year.

what was bizarre on my install was that once the subframe was unbolted, it didn't drop, we actually had to pry it. someone on here is going to flame me, I didn't have all the bolts undone I most certainly did, had the car on a lift in my mechanic buddy's garage and the damn thing fought us to come down 2 inches. it was weird! but definately worth it. the hardest part for me was fitting the black plastic undertray back on, damn thing still doesn't fit, I think APR should give kickbacks to hotchkis for front sways because now I'm going to have to buy the cf under spoiler

Life's rough when you just have to buy that cf air splitter to fix the plastic down there :D. The cradle didn't slide down all the way when I was pulling the original bar out. I was surprised when it gave some more when I pulled down on it.

good to know I'm not the only one that happened to. but now I'm nervous about the undertray because SCCA rules prohibit any "aerodynamic skirt" in club classes. I hope the apr cf part isn't an "aerodynamic skirt" (check out the scca updated GCR rule 9.3.4)

as long as there isn't a splitter up front I don't think anyone will make a big stink about it. I've avoided external mods just to keep in STS for solo II, but I don't know much about club racing.

Ok I installed the sway bars today.I'm doing the springs Wednesday.Only took me two hours and part of that was putting my tools away.I think the instructions tell you to take off to much.I just took out the rear sub frame bolts and the the two nuts right above the control arms loose.I pried on the frame with a long bar and the sway popped out.No big deal thought everything went smooth. I'm sure if I had to do this on the ground/no impact it would take me another hour.

the rear should take less than an hour. the front involves a lot more and can take 3-5 hours depending on what tools and experience you have.
