Does anyone know the size of the cloth reinforced washers? I had my friend at lowe's look around for them yesterday and he found 3/8th's only.. Is that the right size?

I installed the stiffy last night.. I'm really not exactly sure on what setting I have it on but it's definately stiffer then the factory "pre-set" stiffness. I would guess it's either 11 or 12mm (10 is the stiffest).

Instead of dynomat I used seal n' peal from lowes.. It's used to repair roof's & gutters.. it looks almost exactly like dynomat and is about $12 for a 25 foot roll of it. I think I only used about 1 foot worth (if that), but I have some extra just in case.

I also used the cloth reinforced washers.. The size that worked for me was 3/8th's.. It barely fit over the bolt, but you can get it over and it's very snug.

I didn't notice ANY type of noise during idle until I turned the A/C on.. the vibration is very slight with the A/C on.. I mean you would actually have to have the windows rolled up and the radio turned off completely to notice it.

It makes a really sweet sound when I shift into 2nd real hard.. It's really hard to explain what it sounds like but it's very noticable..

I launched the car very hard 3 or 4 times and I either got wheel spin or it just took off.. no wheel hop at all. Before the stiffy I use to hop really bad in 1st gear and also the very beginning of 2nd.

Downshifts feel great, a huge difference.

The install was really easy, probably took about 30 minutes without rushing.

All in all I think it's a great mod all around and would recommend it.

the sound is very similar to the sound of a big rig truck, it's something not expected to come out of a 4 banger.
i got rid of my damper because of the noise, but it really was nice to have it when i wasn't taking long trips in my car

I was playing xbox in my car a few minutes ago with the A/C on and I noticed it started rattling more and more.. I guess the "peal n' seal" stuff started to melt just a little bit.. By the time I was done it was REALLY rattling pretty damn bad. It started to give me a headache. When I turned the A/C off it would completely go away, but when it was on it rattled really bad.

I guess I can either uninstall it and buy some dynomat or I can adjust it to a less stiff setting.

It probably just needs to be readjusted. I know on the WR damper the bushings inside soften up after a few days and it loosens up and starts to rattle. In my experience in takes about 3 weeks for everything to find its happy place before all the noises really start to go away. Adjust it and givie it some more time knowing its probably goign to start rattling again but also knowing that it will eventually go away.

What do you mean by adjust it? Just set it to a less stiff setting?

Stiffer or less stiff. I adjust mine so there is always some tension on it. It seems when its in a neutral spot where there is no pressure applied it can move around more and develop rattles. Just tighten it up a little bit and the rattles should go away. There are rubber bushings inside the damper body that soften up from the heat in the engine bay and the repeated acceleration which creates a little bit of play which it seems is where the rattles come from. This is true for the WR damper anyway and from what I can tell about the Ingalls part the damper design is almost identical.

Last night one of the nuts on the stiffy bolt came lose and fell off on the way home from work.

I used some longer bolts than the one's supplied.. When I put the cloth reinforced washer on I barely had enough room to tighten the nut.

I also tightened the stiffy up and haven't gotten any sound yet.. I can't even tell it's install when the car is idling. I hope it stays this way.

I set it up like this:
Bolt > Metal Washer > Cloth reinforced washer > Metal Washer > Bracket > Metal Washer > Stiffy > O-ring > Nut

Without the metal washers on either side of the cloth reinforced washer it would just work it's way out when I tightened the nut, not remaining under the bolt. It's alot of extra stuff but it seems like it's working very well so far.

i did something similar but placed a cloth reinforced washer between two metal washers and the damper in the middle. sounds great. no rattling, just some "swoosh" sounds and a little more chassis vibration. It really goes away quickly as the car warms up...

I've heard several complaints about the weapon r product breaking with high HP tC's.. I believe ZPI broke one in their car, then put on the ingalls stiffy and never had a problem.

They're real close in price, I'd go with ingalls.

The revised WeaponR bracket is much better than the old one (I broke mine too, but they replaced it with the new version for free). I dont think you can go wrong with either one nowadays.

Just a quick little bump for Ingalls...

I installed this on our Dezod turbo tC and it made a HUGE difference at the track. It cut down wheel hop drastically and I still had it on the default setting. I will be stiffening it this week so I expect even greater results from this. For those who don't know, we were drag racing with DOT drag radials, but with 4 12" MA Audio subs, 4 Alpine Amps, the xbox, and a LOT of other ICE goodies. My average 60' before the stiffy was 2.3 secs, now I'm finally throwing down some 2.1 second 60' times. With the ingalls stiffened up, and the sound system removed (end of this week) I expect to soon be able to cut down those times to 2.0AVG and hitting some sub 2.9 60' times. 12 second passes here we come!

Also... In traffic, this part really made slow starts easier. I have the ACT Street clutch and it has a LOT of grab in first gear. Add engine rock though and smooth starts in first get a little tricker. I'm used to it now (which is good), but as soon as I stalled the Stiffy I realized how much power was being wasted in 1st gear launches. It's a lot more linear now and it feels like most if not all the power the engine is making is finally instantly being transfered to the ground.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I installed the bracket with all the supplied hardware, not making one change, and no dynamat. I haven't experienced any sever shaking of any kind, and the noise increase wasn't anything near what I expected from reading these boards. It actually sounds like a little faint supercharger in first gear haha. Add the sound of a turbo to that and you really enjoy driving this bad boy around.

Great product once again from Ingalls! We plan on using them for every part they make so this tC can reach the next level in performance. Thanks guys!
