Does 500 insallation charge from a dealer sounds okay? TRD Lowering Springs, Struts, and alignment.

My dealer is offering to do mine for $440 for springs and struts. $70 for alignment. I heard one person paid $1,000 and another said $700.

That's not bad at all coming from a dealer. You'll be paying a little more than going to a wheel/specialty shop, but you will have piece of mind knowing all parts will be covered by the dealership.

If that $500 is installation only (no parts), then your dealer is charging too much.

My dealer charged $199 for the springs themselves, and $200 to install them. It takes them no more time and effort to install the strut/spring combo than it does for only springs, so they shouldn't charge you any more than $200 for that. $70 isn't too bad for a 4-wheel alignment, so if you can get it all done for $270 or less, go for it. If they want more than that, your dealer is trying to take advantage of you, but you might be able to locate another dealer that's more reasonable.

There aren't that many shops around here who will do that type of installation. Only place I can think of on top of my head that would probably do it for $240 is a place I wouldn't trust. Because I know they only have so-so knowledge like oil change guys trying to do suspension type of situration.
Another place I would trust that is in Illinois and they do great work but I have feeling they are going ask for same amount or more as my dealer.

I think another issue would be the fact I'm not buying the parts from them. Like Midas, Car-X.

I'm not lying about this but I figured it was going to cost least 500 without alignment. They are also doing O.C., tire rotation. I care about the quality and warranty. If something screwed up I can call them; they tell me to bring it back. All fixed without price tag.

does the Toyota dealership install only the TRD springs, or will they install other brand of springs as well?

Are they high volume? How much service have you allowed them to do already? How are you as costumer?

Mine probably won't being Carmax. BUT being a very loyal customer, they might of allow Teins. I bought the TRDs from their parts department and came back with them. One, in Milwaukee probably would if I was good costumer because they sponsor Scion clubs.

^ well, I was trying to install the springs a couple weeks ago by myself and became extremely frustrated, which drove me into a frenzy ... so now Im looking for places that will install them for me, problem is, everyone wants $600-700 ... no way!! ... I might give it another shot in the near future.

Do you live in Illinois or Wisconsin?

Cause if you do? I probably can take you to my cousin.
