the perch..which is that silver bowl looking thing at the top of the pictures...is installed upside down..which is why the spring is sitting too high and is even pushed off to the right a little bit. once they flip it over..the spring will sit lower ..where it's supposed to be sitting ..on the perch and everything should line up a lot better..

hopefully there's no damage to the spring or strut.

Glad you got that figured out. I'm surprised at a lot of the mistakes these "installers" make. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the install? I used to cheap out on that stuff, but after numerous installs where the alignment of strut assembly was off or a badly seated spring, I had it done right for a premium of $. I'd do it myself, but my garage isn't big enough.

It just seems as though there's a lot of "performance shops" here in so cal where the installers don't have a clue.

Let us know what they'll do for you...

u know you are probably right about that...i'm thinking a lot of these shops are clueless on some of these installs...contrary to what they claim.

oh..and i paid $170 for the install...which i'm told is on the low end as far as shock installs go. word of advice..don't EVER get an install done based on the cheapest price u find.

oh man i got you beat! I paid $135 for my koni install..talk about cheap!

I mean once in a while you'll get a tech who's knowledgeable and gives a damn, but most of the time...well yeah, I wouldn't do it again...

ok here's how it went down...there seemed to be some confusion on the way the perch was supposed to be installed. One of the guys from Koni told the shop to install the perch facing up and the other told him it should be facing down. Not sure why the Koni guys weren't on the same page.

Bottom line is..the shop flipped the perch and now the heights are evened out. It's not the shop's fault because the directions were pretty unclear. Let's just hope this problem doesn't happen to anybody else. I apologize if i offended anyone from the shop....but realize it was out of complete frustration of the situation.

I gotta say...the instructions included w/ the shocks are hardly instructions at all. They make Ikea instructions look like comprehensive owner's manuals!

Is this what Koni told you, or what the shop told you?
Sounds to me that the shop was just trying to cover their ___ and pass the blame onto Koni.
I mean if one Koni guy told me one thing, and anothe told me somethign different, I wouldn't just pick one, I'd find out for sure.
Why would they even have to talk to two different guys at Koni?

that is what the guy at the shop told me..that two different guys from koni were not agreeing on how the perch should be positioned... WHY they weren't on the same page is beyond me. kinda hard to believe imo. but hey...i guess we all make mistakes???

On the topic of Koni Yellows....where's the best place to order them from? I'm thinking about getting them to compliment my Hotchkis springs

try www.shox.com

You may want to call them--I think they may have an SL discount.
