Default Just ONE TRD strut?!

Hey guys

I just went to the Midas dealership because my right rear TRD strut apparently crapped out on me after 20,000 miles (2 years). I need just ONE strut but ive called sparkstoyota and other sites, and they only sell sets of 4 at a time since it comes straight from TRD. So if anyone has just 1 strut go, that means they have to shell out $500?! Anyone know where I can get just a single brand new strut? I'd rather buy brand new than used..

Looks like that might be my best bet. I called TRD directly and they said the same thing all the other sites etc have been telling me....if one strut blows due to a freak occurence, u have to be a whole brand new set of 4 according to them.

Wow what rotten luck, there should be a way to just buy one at a time.

ill have to do that when i get this new set installed.... cuz the strut that just blew was installed by midas. The parts had a 1 Year warranty from TRD directly, but it's been 2 years so that's void

Just blows cuz these struts only have 20,000 miles on them and i need to buy another set

How are the TRD lowering springs on the Tochiko or Koni struts? Does anyone know?

I have hotchkis springs on my tokico shocks and they ride great! I can only imagine a better ride comfort with the trd's. Tokicos come with a lifetime warranty!!!You should have no prob;em with them on TRD's.

This may sound completely noobish but I'm wondering..

Would I be able to replace my 2 rear TRD Struts with Tokico rear struts? I would have TRD in the front, and Tokico in the rear, all with TRD springs.

update!!!

I'm running 2 Tokico struts in the rear, and 2 TRD struts in the front...all of them have TRD springs on them. Kind of a Frankenstein suspension until I get the front Tokico struts later this month haha, but it rides fine as for now.
