Default KONI YELLOW SETTINGS

Hey guys, Just a question...this is my first time ever dealing with suspension parts...and I wanted to ask all the guys and gals out there that have the koni yellow struts on their tCs what setting they have, I'm a daily driver and not a racer. yah i admit i take corners at times and i don't mind havin a little bit of a rougher ride but i just want my car to handle well. is it best to have the same settings on both front and rear struts...or different settings? which is better? thanks for the advice!!!

There is no "better" It's all about HOW YOU want it... Just simple as that. But, I would make the front stiffer as we have a lot of bumps and dips here. Not as much as in the back tho.

Yea, I know what you're saying. If you're on a budget, you should go with the TRD shocks, but if not, go with these. But, make sure you put their features to good use, otherwise the TRD shocks should be for you.

Hey Dude, i know what ur saying but when u said use its "features"...what do u mean ? like im not a racer or anything...the only reason i was thinkin bout konis is because i know they're good performance struts and they offer lifetime warranty and what not...so if u could tell me a bit more on what u mean by its features...thanks.

What I mean, is that if you're gonna only adjust it once or twice, then it might not be worth the money, as they are at least $100 more than the TRDs. And what I meant by its features was its adjustability. So, if I were to get shocks, which I will, I would get the TRD ones as they work good enough for my tastes. I THINK you can adust on how stiff the shock is, I'm not so sure.

I have an Eibach, Koni Yellow setup. I not unlike yourself had nothing to go on. I set my car up with a full turn on each corner. They seem to ride really well. They are stiffer, lost a lot of roll in the corners, and can go over substantial speed bumps at normal speeds. I have not bottomed out once and I have a 2 inch drop. You will enjoy them. By the way definitely worth 100 time the price of the TRD. Adjustable, Lifetime warranty, and they have a long history of good racing and road products. TRD is to Koni as Porsche is to Kia. Maybe look at the percent increase in the springs and ajd. the Koni's the same percent. I think 1/2 a turn is 25% increase, one turn is 100% increase and 1 1/2 is a 400% increase in stiffness. It has been a long time since I had a chance to look at the manual.
Check this out.

it might just be worth it to some of you guys to save a little more money and go with coilovers. If you are looking for more of a race set up.

Depends on the coilovers though. I mean, if you buy tien basics, you're buying a full coilover set up without the adjustability of damping force. I would much rather spend half the money and buy GC sleeve coilovers for the same function. You can even upgrade your shocks to something good like koni yellows then have as much adjustability and fine tuning as a full coilover set up wtih damping force adjustability and height adjustability. Just know what you're buying. Most people don't even need any of it. Pick a height and leave it, or if you like to fine tune get somethiing adjustable.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression tien basic coilovers had no damper adjustability. Just replace that with a coilover without adjustability like TRD or something. My bad. And speaking TRD's they're 4 times more expensive than the GC set for practically the same function. I'm not sure about the spring rates but you can customize your spring rates through GC so that's not really an issue here.
