Applying more pressure/preload means turning the rings with the the threading tighter on the spring? Is that right. Get me some pics if possible.

^^ yes, that is correct. i will try to get you some pics ASAP, but at the moment i am reviewing for my state boards... but you got it... tightening the rings or locking perch on the springs will increase the preload...

^ i dont know about taking it off... i mean its there for a reason, why take it out... its there to hold it in place and your gonna take it out, what else is gonna hold it in place? i mean theres the bottom one that holds onto the rear bar, or whatchamacallit thingy... but damn, taking them out... i would say NO. but, its your call... better be safe than sorry. or what my gf would say is, why make a mistake when you will say sorry in the end when you can prevent from having a mistake in the beginning to prevent saying sorry in the end. u know?

removing the rings are the best alternative ways in lowering the rear more.. if you put more pressure on the spring, your ride quality with decrease.. i removed 2 out of the 3 spring rings on my b&g coilovers and they ride great - the same quality as if the spring rings were there.
