Default Need HELP! Hotchkis springs...again.

I have the springs off the struts and I can't get the new spring compressed enough to go back on. And this is on the rear struts. Any ideas about what to do?

Gotta buy full coilovers now ....

Just kidding. Might have to take your assemblies to a shop and have them install the springs. Shouldn't cost that much for just two springs.

What are you using for spring compressors?

I have the tool, the problem is compressing it enough to get the top of the strut on.

As far as trying what the guys in the post did, I started to try it and I felt like it didnt want to hold and one of the tools started to slide off so I quit. Gonna take it to a shop tomarrow to have them put the springs on.

put the assembly in the rear arm and jack the rear arm up and then put the nut on when the spring is compressed enough. i might not be explaining it very well. not sure how else to explain it.

This would be a good thing to try before you take it to a shop. I heard its the easiest way to do the rears.

^^Sounds good. Don't know if you're keeping stock shocks or bought aftermarket struts, but make sure they're lined up properly with the top spring seat or the assembly won't fit into the car. If they're stock shocks you should have already marked the shock and top seat before you took them apart.

If the tech isn't sure they're lined up right, just have him install the spring but keep the nut just loose enough to where you can bring then home and rotate the top seat into alignment where it will fit in the car. Then you can torque the nut to spec.

dude i just did mine yesterday with the rental spring compressors from kragen, what i did was compress the spring as much as u can, then put it on the strut, and set the top mount on in place, then i took 2 pieces ow wood of each side of the top plate and just pushed as hard as i could while a buddy of mine got the nut threaded a little bit then tightened it the rest the way with my impact gun, it sucked but it worked and i didnt have to pay anyone.
