The shift **** stays at the same height . TRD gets the shorter throw by changing the pivot points on the shift arm instead of just cutting the shift arm down like most on the market . It shortens the throw by 20% and uses metal bushings instead of rubber/oem It gives a more positive solid shift . It comes with the Large Leather TRD shift ****

Besides the shift cage and ****, how does this differ from the TWM shifter? Does it change the way you shift gears? From the looks of the picture, it doesn't look like it pivots side-to-side at all.
More info please.

I spoke with the TRD rep to check on the **** height. It stays the same as stock . The reason for the repositioned pivot points and the new cage is to keep the **** height the same as stock but to get the shorter throw . Not to achieve the shorter throw by just cutting the shift arm down .
Some of the other TRD shifters are made this way Celica , MRs Spyder , xA, xB, and the Matrix
This way you don't end up with your shift **** down in the console with a shift boot all bunched up around it . It makes a cleaner looking install as well , you don't have to pull the shift arm out of the factory cage which can be a real pain if you have ever done one .

that whole kit looks solid. it looks like the shaft might even be tended a little closer to the driver.
once some people get them installed and vouch for them, i might think about swapping one out for my twm.
Paul, you should think about selling some kits minus the ****. you could easily sell the **** seperately

Sweet
Sweet, been waiting for this. mcgeorgeparts, do you have the install guide for this somewhere? Kinda curious on how much work it is cause I'm trying to decide whether or not to install it myself or to go to the dealer. Also, do you have the MSRP of this installed for dealers? It's not listed on the scion.com site yet.

Nice - I think I'll wait until people get them installed, but I like this setup much more than the TWM one - I'd rather swap out the part in total than pull out the shifter itself. I'd like to hear some feedback about what the difference in bushings will do though.

yes that's a lot of money (well, a lot more money than JUST the shifter shaft) but you get the entire assembly rather than just the shaft... ready to install, and remember TRD = warranty... you could even have a dealership install it for you and have the 3-year warranty on the part... that's friggin sweet, I'm calling you tomorrow to order one, I sure hope you still take the Scion giftcards, I just got mine in the mail less than a week ago - I'll also ask about whether or not you can get it without the TRD shift-****, there's a nice looking plate infront of my shift unit on the console that shows the shift-grid (not like I don't already know it) so the imprint in the shift **** is really ugly and un-necessary to me, and I already have the leather mesh OBX ****.
Unless you're planning on a group buy you'll hear from me in the morning, if not, sign me up ASAP =)
P.S.: sorry TWM, you lost my sale with your bad business practices of cutting off your vendors and jacking up your prices, then putting them "on sale" for more than they were originally.... and I was going to wait for B&M or sucker in and just buy it too...
**EDIT** Also found this pic on www.trdusa.com

To anybody who wants this shifter but not the ****, I would buy the **** from you if you want. I would pay like $35 shipped for it, instead of you only getting $25 off the price from mcgeorge... plus youd be helping a member out... Just a thought.
