this is the kind of post i was looking for, a non biased one. thank you.

ive had htechs since ive had the car, 50k miles on the springs. i just recently got sways and the konis, so im slowly but surely making the adjustment, i want it to handle. i cant afford good coilovers right now, i was just curious if these would be an improvement over the htech/koni combo. having known then what i know now, id have coilovers by now.

i think they are shot bc they are low as eff for htechs, way lower than they used to be, as low as my buddies stechs actually. i love the height, but i hate the bounciness, i guess im going to have to sacrifice some height for handling performance though.

i really dont even know if i should drop the money on a different set of springs or just ride it out on the htechs until i can afford some coils.

Ride it out until you can afford quality coils. If needed just throw the stock springs back on. Honestly I drove a friends car with racelands just before we took them off, and it didnt handle too well. The "coilovers" were falling apart, so that may have had something to do with it. He is now buying my old h-techs and konis. IMO racelands are basically just an adjustable spring. Theyre fine for slamming the car (if they hold up) but if your expecting a performance increase from tein springs and koni shocks, dont bet on it.

i feel ya. part of me says the tC isn't a race car and will never handle THAT great, and says eff it... dump it and ride out on some 18x9.5s +35 or something along those lines. the other part of me says that just ridiculous and i already have the sways, so i might as well make the best out of how the car handles and have a little fun with in in some autox.

i dunno. i need to buy me a z06 when i graduate so i dont have to worry about any of this.

Flint.

TRD springs are closer (could be a tad lower) to the optimal drop (around 1.4 inches) and handle very well. You can pick them up cheap from most places. I autox'd that setup 2 seasons with a trd rear bar and liked it.

H&R Sport springs are right around 1.4 inches of drop.. but I dont know the rates. IF they are upwards of 300 - 400 lbs they may handle pretty well.

Sounds like the htechs were starting to sag on you.. which being that low of a spring rate with too much drop may cause that to happen.

The only teins I am willing to spend money on are the ss-ps, which so far are pretty nice and I know some others autoxing them like them too. The others by tein just arent taylored to handling very well.

From what I've read in this thread, Racelands are for looks. At $300 shipped, it's stupid to beat on these coils by taking them to the track or whatever. Sounds dangerous. Though I'm convinced that they will hold up just fine for daily driving. My two cents.

So I ordered them tonight (and a fig grille, and HIDs).

Flint.. if you set it up right, you will be pleasantly surprised at how well it can handle. You can make a lot of "faster" car owners cry if you set it up right and drive it well Handling is the best part of this car IMO with a few mods.

And dont forget the tires in that list of mods.... tires are the most important handling mod there is.

ive had them for about a week now and im liking how my car looks.. i dont do autox nor drag racing and no planning on doing it.. these coilovers are good ONLY for DD NOT on a track, IMO.. buttom line is if your not comfortable on buying them is dont buy them..

my next thing is new endlinks since mine are done for. i think with new links, the hotchkis sways, koni struts and the springs being my weak point it should be somewhat fun until i can get some coils.

tires suck right now (245/40/17) nexen 3000s. i wanted to make sure they fit before i got some expensive tires. i think i can squeeze 255s actually

I am actually on H&R coilovers, and I installed them myself with the help of the DIY's online. This was my first time messing with suspension.

normal for one particular side to be higher than another? that should not happen with coilovers, now some coilovers the either the fronts will go lower or the back will go lower. But they shouldnt be uneven on just one side.
