Default Ok SERIOUSLY... someone help me convince my dad...

Ok so heres my story....
I try to talk to my dad one day about getting lowering springs (hotchkis rather) on my nbm tc... Everyone knows that is clearly the sexiest drop for the tc... I tell him i know what im doing and all i need to do is have him say yes... but ofcourse... he wont let me.. he tells me "what if you damage your car.. im afraid that like something will happen and you will need a 3000 dollar repair.. like what if you hit a truck tire on the road or even a ladder, then you have to pay for the repair, and you wont have a car for awhile cause it will be in the shop"... honestly what the ____ are the chances of hitting either one of those... like come on... so now im all out of reasons cause he pretty much destroyed everything i had to say.... so tell me what to say to him cause i NEED THESE SPRINGS.. well more like want them really bad but yea... im planning on dropping them on koni yellow struts so my struts will survive with such a severe drop... I NEED REASONS... HEEELLLPPPP MEEEEEE!!!!!!

Why do you need your fathers permission? I'm guessing he at least co-signed the loan for you. Well, here is a bit of advice(though it may not be what you want). If you live in his house, and he pays for your car, don't bother him about it. Unless you can afford to take care of all those things, just take it as it goes man. Just because you want the drop doesn't mean you need it. Sure it looks better and it handles better(of course maybe the drop will help you avoid the obstacles your dad mentioned), but it isn't a necessity.

Basically, don't sweat it.

Edit: Why do you have someone elses car as your avatar? That is like plagiarizing your thesis man.

Yeah, just wait till the car is payed off, or at least a good ammount of it is. And make sure you take care of your car. Wash it regularly, oil changes, filter changes. Show your dad that you genuinly care about your car and I'm sure you'd have a better chance of getting the OK.

But as stated above, his house, (technicly) his car... his rules I'm afraid.

I'm afraid your dad has some valid concerns, and as others have said: his house, his car, his rules.

Stay in school, do well, grow up, go to a nice college, go to a nice grad school, get a nice career, then have a ball.

I couldn't resist!

Buy TRD Springs and I bet he won't even notice. Gots to agree with the peeps; Dad's house, Dad's rules.

I just lowered mine anyways, he didn't say anything but then again I don't live with him most of the year (college) so he probably doesn't notice.

I can't recommend a 2" drop on stock shocks/struts. Just silly.

i explained in full detail what the prings would do for my baby, i bought them with my pop's permission and waited about 6 months untill he let me lower it. I did it the day after my 17th birthday, but i pay for everything that happens to the car, take car of it, pay for insurance, and my parents understood, they let m mod within reason and I have to run everything by them first, but if your pops says no, well then it's a no, dont go behind his back after he buys you a brand new car and pays for everything

well, everybody sounds pretty level-headed about it. dad's house, dad's car, dad's rules sort of thing...

dude you should recognize...recognize how lucky you are to be driving that car. I had to build my first car, and was still driving it when I was 19...

otoh, if you detail the crap out of that car every other day, you're dad will recognize and you will get more rope.

Yr father has a point.

another kid complaining that they can't do anything to the car their parents paid for.....

and yes I am only 18 but I'm no longer in high school, have a career, and pay for my own stuff and have never driven a vehicle that I didn't pay for. when I was still in school, I didn't drive until I had a job and could afford to drive and it wasn't because my parents wouldn't pay for me it was because I didn't want them to.

wow.. i'm only 16.. BUT BUT BUT!!! i got a job but i quit, but that's not the point.. Unless you paid 3k for part of the car like i did... You should really listen to your dad.. I paid for all the parts and mods on my car.. I do eveything myself.. Unless you're willing to find a job, and start paying you dad back, don't get springs.. maybe start off with something less extreme.
