It does need stopping power when you're on a heavy set of wheels & tires (20x10/20x13). My wheels are 29 pounds, & the tires probably weigh about 27 pounds, which is a lot heavier than stock (17x7 I believe). My rear tires alone are 32.7 pounds a piece, therefore I need better brakes.

My brakes started wearing down like crazy just from my round trip to SEMA. I can feel a significant difference with my bbk.
you basically missed the whole point. im talking mainly about endless bbk and the reason why they have such little rotors. i do wonder how or who you got your bbk from. hope this explains why.

Guarantees without data? Ok GWBush and your WMD. You cannot disprove data, you CAN disprove theories that lack structure and data to support it.

The reason why there is no quatifiable date is because its common sense that the car will stop shorter with a BBK and also no one has the time and would even waste the time measuring that out.
It's not common sense. maybe for people who don't know better, sure.

And that's the problem. You THINK brakes are the major stopping component on a car. Nope.
Tires.
Try this... (cause I have)...
1. get Stock OEM car.
2. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
3. replace brake pads with hawk HP+
4. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
5. Compare results.

My research found that cold stopping distances were exactly the same (within one foot +/-). No quantifiable change whatsoever. HOT stopping distances DID change though. Meaning, the 3,4,5 stops with the hawk HP+ were no more than 10% difference from the original cold stop. While the 5th stop on the OEMs were 25% longer in stopping. So, the next test was done.

1. OEM car w/ hawk hp+ and 205/50-15 Falken Azenis
2. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
3. replace tires with 205/50-15 Toyo RA1s shaved.
4. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
5. Compare results.

Research found a definite decrease in stopping distances by 25% across the board. This including cold and hot stops.

Did another test.

1. OEM car w/ hawk hp+ and 205/50-15 Falken Azenis and stock 9" rotors/calipers
2. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
3. replace rotors/calipers with 11.5" rotors and Wilwood calipers.
4. do 5 stops from 60mph in both directions. Measure each stopping distance.
5. Compare results.

Research found an INCREASE in stopping distances over stock. Why? less modulation in brakes, easier to lock up, more rotating mass in the rotor. HOWEVER, the 3,4,5 stops were much more consistent, staying within 5% of the original cold stop.

So, before you start quoting eroneous statements, do some research. Test it. Don't believe what the magazines tell you... they are trying to sell products and ads.
Also, cross-drilled/slotted rotors suck for cold stopping distances (increasing your stopping distances by about 3-5%). But, you already know this, cause...magazines told you this, right?

You must have no life mr CRX honda dude for you to type all that junk that no one cares about. I know that they stop a lot better. Ive had a few brakes combos. Stock pads with hawk hps pads and they stopped awesome. the stock brakes stop good the first time you stomp on them. Then the 2nd time they suck. major brake fade.

Anyways... back to posting pics of BBKs

we wont live being stupid and I Do Not read magazines then go buy parts. I dont even think they have magazines with info like that for the tC yet.

Actually, copy and paste works miracles.

I know that they stop a lot better.
no you don't... you "think" they do... but you're probably just as smart as the other guy meaning your experience is about as deep as a puddle.

Proof that you have no clue what you're talking about. The same principles that work on Aston Martin race cars can apply to Supra race cars.

But, you guys can keep thinking you're 13" brake kit on street tires is stopping any better than a car with 9" brakes on race compounds...

I'm talking from experience with data backing it, you guys are talking out of your ___... with your butt-meter saying it stops better. the same meter that makes you think your K&N drop-in makes your car faster than a jet.

i like them. for the most part they feel like stock brakes for daily driving. the only time i can really notice the difference is from high speeds to low speeds (really getting on the brake), and constant braking (in a race manner) with little to no brake fade

Ya, I guess that is how it is with big 19rims. lol. I have stock sized rims that are lighter than stock so they stop pretty good. And with the coil overs the front of the car doesnt dip either. Its nice. If i really step on the brakes and hit a little bump, it sometimes kicks the abs off though. You ever get that?
