Default Problem with my coilovers? (Ksport)

After installing my Ksports yesterday I came back to my garage tonight and found this...
(pics were hard to get, click to enlarge)

Clear oil came out of the top of the tower. Nothing has been adjusted yet. Is there a rason this happend? Is there something I can use to replace the oil lost? Do i need a whole nother assembly? I have a show in 3 weeks, there isnt enough time to mail it back and wait for another unless ElementMotorsports can send it now and I send the bad one back later.

Advice? Help?

Blown shock. This is the reason I wouldn't want to buy coilovers that don't have dampers made by a reputable company. But hey, it could happen to anyone, with any brand of shocks. Good luck.

Better yet just call the closest Authorized Dealers around you and ask them.
http://www.ksportusa.com/dealerlist/dealerdefault.html

or call Kport 480-829-8100.

So whats the out come did you hear from Ksport?

Keep on them if this was a manufactures defect.

Element has a good relationship with them, so maybe give Element a call as well.

Keep us posted.

They charged me 17 bucks to ship me out a new one in advance, they also sent a return tag so I can send the bad one back. Danny at Ksport took care of me, nice guy, great service.

Awesome, I am glad they took care of you and it's very good to hear that there's good service with Ksport when it comes to warranty.

Also, See if you can get some type of update on what caused the top to leak like that.

It's strange on why this happend without driving the car..

My best guess is that the shock is not blown. I have a feeling the the Soft/hard dampening control bolt either got lose in shipping, or was loosen'd from me playing around with it when installing it. In theory the adjusting of the ride would be how compressed the oil was making it harder of softer. If it got to be too loose, the oil would just push the bolt right out.

Make sure you set the Damp Adjustment to Standard setting like the instructions state too. It's 2 full turns from Hard, which puts you at Standard. Drive the car at standard setting, then tune them from that point. If it stops turning don't force it. The valves inside are fragile.

I have mine set 2 turns under standard and they ride nice. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

the problem is, with my fender flares, Ive got NO room for bouncing or give. If I set them at the ride height I want, (lowered about 1.5) any bounce wiill crack my flare. If I ride baha, then I can set it to standard. We'll see how it works out once they're on good.
