Default Problem with New Rear Shocks

Hello fellow Scion owners. I recently purchased new springs and shocks and was going to lower my car. The front install went smoothly. I was excited about getting to the rears until I ran into this problem.

I was trying to install my Eibach springs on these shocks, but the spindle of the KYB shock is about half an inch shorter than the OEM shock. Both new KYB rear shocks were the same length (shorter than OEM). What do I do? I tried compressing the spring more, but it didn't make any difference.

as for the shocks, it should fit. i'd try again and compress the spring even more.

Hahahah You could've told I was Hmong from my screen name as well. I called KYB this morning and a technician told me the reason for the half inch difference in the length of the rod is because I have a worn shock. He said there's an inner spring that causes the rod to retract, but when there's a worn shock, the spring no longer does it's work. Something along that line. I tried compressing the spring as far as I could already, it doesn't make much of a difference. I'm going to take new shocks to a local shop and have them install my Eibach springs on the shocks. $25 per shock... Sigh...

I hope I don't face the same issue like you do when my KYB GR-2 coming in...

Thats BS about your structs being worn. By the looks in the picture, your stock stuct looks fine. I just got mine off, switching to trd structs and springs. My trd structs were shorter as well. Its just how it is because they are meant for lowering springs. A longer rod would just mean the struct would just get worn out faster.

I ended taking it to a local shop and had the springs compressed and installed. I've had them installed on my car for almost 2 weeks now.

I'll be using hand tool to compress the spring with no impact gun, so wish me luck!

also by doing this can you guys confirm that for the front shocks the two bolts is 22mm socket?
