Default Puzzling ROTOR problem...

I've noticed that at low speeds I'll get a squealing sound at a certain point in the rotation of the wheels.

I replaced the front and rear pads and that fixed it for a couple weeks but now its back. There's no vibration in the steering wheel at all so I don't think the fronts are warped.

I had the right/rear wheel off and was free spinning the rotor and noticed that when the caliper reached a certain point on the rotor it was much more difficult to turn.

Not sure if they're warped or stuck or what. Should they be resurfaced? They have 75K on them.
Help

Does the brake pedal feel weird during braking?

not at all. No vibes in the pedal or the steering wheel.

think i have the same issue as you, i get this creaking/squeeking sound at a certain point of rear driver side tire rotation, usually happens at low speeds especially braking but not a hard brake just a normal slowing into a break like you would to a stop light or sign.

is that what your experiencing? i have rear brake pads sitting in my room going to install them but from what you said having replaced your and still getting the sound idk what else it would be.

if you solve this before i do please let me know the sound is getting pretty loud.

seems like they are slightly warped. having them machined will just create a thin wall and leave you open for more problems like more warpage, cracking, breaking, brake fade, exploding rotors. just replace them and its a good reason to upgrade.

Mmm not quite. It actually goes away under braking and I'm almost positive I've isolated it to the rear wheels bc the rear pads got rid of it for a few weeks.

The only other thing it may be is the ebrake. I tightened it via the console, not at the rear drums, a year ago and its lost some bite. Tonight I went in and tightened it at the drums. I'll see if it comes back.

I'm probably going to replace the F/R rotors anyway. Its about time.

I would definitely start with replacing the rotors. Also, cheaper metallic pads will cause squeeking too! while you have the rear rotors of you could check the shoes and adjust them.

i bet i know what it is i had the same issue last year and i had to bend back the heat shield a bit and that took care of my issue. the rotors were a bit thicker than oem and were rubbing against the heat shield.

I replaced the pads w/ OEM's. Next time I have the rear's off I'll check the heat shield. It def. sounds like something simple or retarded or simply retarded bc the braking system feels fine.

Its just annoying as hell driving through parking lots bc there is definitely something rubbing back there.

you dont need the rears off. just jack up the car and remove the wheels; takes about 10 min by time take it off and bend it back and put back on (you dont need to take the rotor off to do this) believe me i did it on my lunch break the day after i put them on cuz it annoyed the hell outta me

right behind the rotor. its just a decently thin metal plate right behind it.
