Finally for those like me waiting for some great shocks for our tc. Koni just release new adjustable shocks for the tc but will be available at the end of next month.
Part # 86101416 sport for the front and #802865 sport for the back.
$232 list price, and around $162 regular price. For the front ones (each)
$176 list price, and around $124 regular price for the rear. (each)

We will be looking at about $572.00 for the set.

that's awesome.. just what i've been waiting for and a great alternative to the TRD's. BTW I don't know a whole hell of a lot about part components, what does it mean if the shocks are "adjustable" ?

The ability to adjust the tension off the shock, making it stiffer or softer depending on how you like your ride. Koni happened to be one off the best aftermarket shocks available.

Hmm... Just called Koni, they said that with these shocks they don't recommend using them in addition to springs that lower the car any more than 1.5 inches. Past that point, the car would be riding on the bumpstops right off the bat and any big bump would bottom out the shock and void the warranty. So there goes my Koni's + Tein S-Tech's idea...

You're right, I forgot about that... but wont the piston be dangerously close to the bottom of the shock?

It won't void your warrenty, that particular situation won't be covered but you'll still have a warrenty.

The warranty of the Koni shock, not the warranty of anything Toyota.

Hard to say, without looking at the setup. The TRD's don't come with a shortened bumpstop...so you are forced to use the stock bumpstocks, which puts you in the same position as the Koni's + drop of > 1.5 inches. However, since the bumpstops were too long for the TRD shocks, I just trimmed ~ inch off the bump stops, and all was good.

I'd have to see the Koni setup first, but my feeling is that most likely, you should be able to trim 1/2" off the Koni bump stops without too much trouble. That should be enough for any spring of a 2" drop.

Also remember that Koni sports have a metal ring that allows height adjustability of the car, so plan on geting springs with a 1.5" drop, and you can have new notches machined for only a few bucks that will allow you to adjust the height up or down depending on how you want your tC.

Most Koni sports come with two notches from the factory, and it is super easy to add additional ones to your liking.

I dont' understand. I thought adjustable shocks were for stiffness only. Are you saying that since I have the TRD springs, if I get these adjustable shocks, I would be able to drop my ride a little lower?

i wonder if Koni would just put out shocks that could be used in combination with springs that lower the car more than 1.5 inches.. that's alienting a lot of people from wanting to buy them i bet.

That makes no sense at all!! If the shocks are adjustable than, if your dropped 2'' you can adjust to the necessarily height. Thats why when you drop more than 2'', and you replace your shocks you go with shorter shocks rather than same height as stock.

You had to of been misinformed or something...

Hi, everyone I just got back. Great questions, I have not contact Koni in regards of the shock adjustment as far as ride height. I honestly don’t know if Koni offers that option on the tc but will call Koni first thing on Monday, in addition I don’t think that by lowering the car more than 1.5 inches will make the car riding on the bump stops. Koni is a great company that offers one off the best shock in the market and if they went to the trouble of making an adjustable shock for the tc they know it will definitely use with a variety of spring, stiffness and height. Never the less I encourage all of you to simply call and find out on your own, that way we will all be in the same page. The more we know the better we are.

Nice, Ive been wating for shocks to come out now for awhile. Now I just have to decide if Id rather keep spring and go with the konis, or just buy some tein basics since they will be pretty close in price... Although I really would like the have the adjustability in the shocks.
