Default some questions about the TRD springs.

ok guys i have decided that the tc needs to be dropped and i decided that the trd springs are the way that i want to go. if i get the spring installed on the stock shocks do u think that they will blow the shocks anytime soon? if not, how long to u think they will last b4 blowing? and for those that have them, will they void the warrenty if i get them installed anywhere else? and for those of u that got them installed at the dealer, how much did u pay for the install?

thanks.

I doubt it will be anytime soon... but I think the TRD shocks are probably the most "stock shock" friendly b/c the drop isn't as severe.

As for your warranty... no, nothing will void your warranty by simply having it installed. No matter where. If it turns out that shop did a crappy job and their install caused another problem, then the repairs for THAT problem would not be covered under warranty.

what about when the stock shocks blow out because of the TRD springs. Will the dealership replace your stock shocks under warranty because the springs that were installed are not after-market, but are made my Toyota?

The springs are aftermarket, regardless if it's TRD branded.

seeing as how it is a dealer installed option, and the dealer does not require changing the strut, that is a good question. Due to some mess ups on my car after I bought it, the dealer basically gave me the labor to install them (or VERY close to it anyway), so I let them do it rather than doing it myself. They didnt even mention the struts at all, so warranty is a good question.

However, the TRDs will not blow out your shocks any time soon, so they will most likely fail after the point that Toyota says they should and will fall under normal wear and tear. I have had mine for about 10,000 miles with stock struts so far with no issues whatsoever. They add some nice handling effects, look great, ride decent for lowering springs, and give it just enough drop for my tastes. I love them so far.

Hey just install the springs and you will be happy.!
I installed the trd struts and springs and rear sway bar and thing takes corners like whoa! But the biggest diffrence I noticed was the Hotchkis front srtut tower brace I was always wondering if I would even notice a diffrence... "yeah man I sure did"..
I would not consider ever driving a Tc without one !
