Default Sway Bar HELP

Hey everyone. I am looking for some sway bars for my tC and I came across these 2 TRD Rear Sway bars on www.mcgeorgeparts.com. Im not sure I if I understand the difference between the two. They are both titled TRD Rear Sway Bar but have different pictures and part numbers. Can someone explain the difference please?

Here are the two TRD Rear Sway bars:

http://mcgeorgeparts.com/PD-PTR11-21....aspx?MakeID=1

On Sale For: $153.60

http://mcgeorgeparts.com/PD-00602-48....aspx?MakeID=1

On Sale For: $119.00

I was also wondering if the tC has any stock sway bars.

And last but not least… do you guys think that TRD is a good choice? I’ve read through a couple threads and it seems that most are happy with their TRD Sways.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate any feedback…

Greg.

Looks the same to me, i think one is just an earlier release model for the 05 and the other is 06. No difference tho. Yes we do have stock sways with only one setting. TRD has two, street and agressive. There is another sway bar that has 3 settings. I think i would've gotten that one better, but TRD is subtle. Not super high performance but a good performance for its price. Im happy with reppin TRD

There is no difference between the two pictures. Just from different angles and lighting. I noticed a difference when I put them on, even on the street setting. I know many people like the hotchkis kit but it comes with the front and rear. If you're looking for just the rear, TRD is a good way to go! GOOD LUCK!

Yes, it has stock sways, all cars do for the most part. That is the only thing that directly prevents body roll.

I have no idea what the two different bars would be.

If you go with anything stiffer than the trd rear, then you really should get a front bar as well. Too much stiffer on the rear and you will induce too much oversteer. I run the trd rear on race setting and it works great.

They are the same sway bar. If he'll sell you one for $119 then jump on it. That is way under cost on them right now. Chances are since they changed part #'s they'll say there aren't anymore at that price. Just a heads up. If you can't get it for the $119 you can get it here for $145.

I bought mine from McGeorge for $119 and it's a great buy. TRD is not as aggressive as other sway bars, but for regular driving it does a good job. Jump on this right away.

They really are a good setup for the street. Too aggressive and you start actually hurting yourself on bumpy, city streets. I think it is well worth the money.

Depends on your driving. If you're a really aggressive drive then the Hotchkis might be the way to go for you.

I would say for the average weekend auto-x'r not trying to be the number one car on the track every race, the TRD is probably great for you if you still do a lot of street driving. As I alluded to previously, you are removing suspension independence with stiffer sways. Too stiff and hard corners on no so smooth streets will be harder to handle rather than easier. On a track, you are usually on a fairly groomed and flat surface, so super stiff can work very well. You can also get the hotchkis setup and run it stiffer on race days if you drive a lot of semi rough streets every day.

But I agree with some. No matter what you get, it is probably the only mod within the $150 - $250 that will actually make a noticeable difference. You will notice the stiffer setup every time you corner. It is a mod you can enjoy without having to run 1/4 mile runs or drive like a complete idiot on the street. And, if you only go rear, it is a 30 minute install. Very simple.

I am looking to get into some of the auto-x events here just for fun. As I do it for a while, I will probably end up switching to a hotchkis set depending on how things go, but with the TRD springs, TRD rear sway and avon rubber all around I am very please with the way mine handles.

It comes with instructions. This is probably the easiest suspension mod you can do next to a STB. If you were doing Hotchkis sways then you would need help.

^^ drive it hard and you should really notice it. I tested on the same sweeping 90 many times before and after the trd sway.. it was literally like night and day. And most on here know that I am more than a little skeptical of mods

oooooo avon rubber... Bow i will prolly get hoosier though
Yeah, I love them so far. You can get better on dry pavement. (mine are all seasons). but they do very well either way, and on wet pavement they truly impress me. And for $103 a peice they are hard to beat for good all seasons.

Race is stiffer, meaning it will hold the car flatter in the corner, but will be a little rougher on the ride. For the trd, I leave it on on race all the time. No point in the street setting on it.

how easy is it to install? Do you even have to have a lift?

After reading the instructions, yes, lift or jack stand. Hmm...
