Sway Bar Set Debate

probably. if your stock u will notice a push when u hit a corner hard... like the frontend goes out. Rear cures that.
Im getting both just to get a little more out of it.

Im sorry Troll King, I have failed you. Thus I will punish myself by not conforming to the bunch of cheapos who have bought something affiliated with Raceland.

I never understand why people get so hyped on a solid bar. If a hollow bar is strong enough (and at the stiffness of a trd or progress rear bar, the hollow bar is more than strong enough) then the solid bar is just adding more weight to the car.
With the sways, it all depends on what you want out of them. The TRD bar is great. Simple install and provides a great balance to the car. Sways work together to balance out oversteer/understeer and reduce body roll. Too much rear bar will make the car oversteer too easily, which is why the hotchkis comes as a set. There are benefits to the increased roll resistance of the hotchkis bars, but also the con of corner exit traction issues on an open diff due to the stiffer front bar. I will let you know how the two tradeoffs balance out when I put my hotchkis bars on for next autox season ;) If they dont net an improvement, I will go back to the TRD bar I run now.
On the Hotchkis bars breaking, those are OLD bars. The first design did not have stops to prevent side to side movement. The movement caused rubbing/interference and eventually breakage. Hotchkis did and still does replace those with the new design if they break. The newer ones have stops on them to fix the issue.
Also remember that the progress bar (progress bars are great either way) that Gardner runs is custom and not the one you buy directly from them.
Regarding racelands.... and this comes from all I have heard on them, and is the typical consensus of most of the more serious autosports enthusiasts. They tend to build cheap stuff. So so for the price if you just want an adjustable height setup with reliability low on the priority list. They dont have damper adjustment as far as I know, most likely have cheapo dampers (and I think some are already talking about symptoms that sounds like dampers failing prematurely) and the materials and manufacturing looks so so at best. So again, if you want $230 worth of reliability and function, then that is fine. IF you are out looking for a higher end performance setup, they are probably not a great choice. The only long term users of them I hear that really like them are VW drivers that admit they simply want to slam their daily driver for cheap. And I believe the units built for the VWs are not built in the same place as the ones for many other cars (like tC's). Personally I wouldnt touch them with a 10 foot pole, but this is coming from someone who is corner balanced, at close to optimum ride height for performance, changes camber for autox setup and uses my damper adjustments. I also do this on ss-ps and am already working to design a custom setup with better dampers and higher quality springs (Even though the ss-ps' are a pretty nice setup already). So I am not willing to sacrifice quality and performance on a cheap set up.

Thanks for the feedback Engifineer. You've just convinced to me to buy the TRD sway bar.
As for racelands, I've have my car for 5 years now, so I thinks it's worth investing $230 to try them out. If they even last 1-2 years on a daily driver, they will be well worth the money. Now if I was any kinda serious about racing I would never consider them, but after all my research I think I've picked the right tool for the job.

thats how i feel. I really need the added ride height(thanks to some idiotic road design in wv) from the adjust ability, and since my damper are already shot(70k, stock dampers, TRD springs....there gone) its worth the price difference to get the racelands.

I was wondering if there is a site that sales just the HKS rear sway bar. Currently I can only find them in sets obviously.
I know the front and rear were made to be used in conjunction with each other and I have since purchased a front sway bar locally, but they guy was adiment about keeping the rear sway bar. I definatly want to give this set a try.
Or would it be more beneficial to just get a TRD as per how the previous posts point?
opinions/ help?

TRD Sway bar mounting kit includes 2 bushings, 2 brackets, 1 tube of lube.
Decent price too.

the reason the front can take that long is that you have to drop the subframe in order to the front correctly. But you won't regret it one bit. Having both the front and rear sways on (and ones that thick)... the handling is night and day difference. Combine that with a moderate drop (no lower than 2")... and you wont be able to wipe the grin off your face for a week! lol.

PROGRESS BAR NOTE:
Although the bar that we run is indeed a custom 1-inch solid unit, for those whose application is ON TRACK/ MOTORSPORTS, a simple phone call to Progress requesting the Dan Gardner bar will result in you too being able to get the bar.
We do NOT necessarily recommend this bar for street use.
Happy handling!
