Default tein basics install

Hey guys im installing the tien basics with my dad right now and we cant figure out how to tighten the pisten rod that goes up into the interior of the car. There is really nothing to grab to be able to tighten that locknut on, is it a bad idea to put a regular nut on and then put locktight on it? thx for info/ comments

P.S I noticed the OEM spring had an alen key slot in the very top of it to be able to tighten.

do i need to compress the new coilover spring to get it in farther then tighten it?

just lower the bottom spring seat until there is no pressure on the upper seat or use a spring compresor i was able to put mine on by a spring compresor and holding the rod with my hand

Well one should of put the top hat on on the coilovers before putting it in the car....

Then you put the whole assembly in the car and just tighten the bolts down.

What do you mean? I assembled it exactly how they have it in the little manual part by part. What is the top hat? what did i miss? I am looking at my assembly diagram right now on both the front and back shocks and there is absolutely nothing about a top hat. I am gonna tighten everything up tonight so please responce quickly about this tophat thing
