Default Tein Springs Bad?

I was planning on getting tein springs here
http://www.killertc.com/product.php?...326&bestseller

But my suby friend told me I should only get those springs if I want to ____ up my struts. I figured I'd throw this topic up in here. Are they going to deal that much damage to my struts?

why exactly do the springs make the struts go bad? The stiffer springs would make the strut move less (i would think) which you would think would cause less wear on the strut. So my question is why do lowering springs mess up struts?

its because the car is lower, therefore, your struts are always more compressed than their factory spec

they lower the strut drastically as opposed to a stock spring, in which stock sturts/shocks are suppose to handle.

any spring thats low will blow a strut unless its not a drastic drop.

Tein Stechs are really low 2.4" front and 2.0 back.
Tein Htechs are 1.9 front and 1.5" back

go with htechs if ur worried about blowing ur shocks/struts

To the OP - I would recommend buying some after market struts (TRD, koni, etc...) to save yourself a headache later on down the road...or just save up a couple hundred and buy coilovers.

I wouldn't bother buying aftermarket struts. At that point you could have found a set of used coilovers.

i got racelands even though they have bad rep i still like them.. i track them, i DD them and others have even found ways to improve them.. nothing wrong with raceland coilovers. take it from someone that has them installed on their TC.

My experience with Tien S techs are great. I still have them on my 95 civic in which I upgraded the struts also so i couldnt tell you much about the stock struts blowing or whatever unless you got Tokico Illuminas.. (tien s techs with tokico illuminas = great handling/drop/looks). Its been 8 years now and they still are on there performing great! i havent checked if they make illuminas for TC's but i wouldnt be surprised if they did. Tien makes great springs and suspension components. DO IT if you want them

it was a worry but apparently its normal as its happened with Tien SSP's, and other brand of coilovers. This even happened to me with my Tien S Techs and illuminas but didnt think much of it since they were not height adjustable.. so i didnt question it then.. but all in all Racelands are the most way under rated suspension out there, not saying they are the best but they are pretty good.. just my 2 cents

Check the classified section, you could find springs for much cheaper.
Your struts will eventually fail, lower springs will just make them go out quicker.
Just buy the springs and when the struts blow get new ones.

Any lowering springs will put excessive stress on the struts.

From what i've gathered...Tein S-techs are notorious for blowing struts.

Hotchkis, not so much, but I know a few people that blew their struts w/ them.

Basically... The lower the drop the increased chance of blowing your struts.

If you must get S-Techs, drive slow over bumps and such, lol. I don't even want to mention it hitting the fenders (depends on wheel/rim blah blah).

I say save up for coilovers.

Or might as well get upgraded struts w/ the springs.

Cause they will blow eventually.

I've heard mixed messages about the Racelands. Its the Teins or the Racelands. What should I do
