what does each tick mark represent on the camber plates?

well, machined tick marks are more of a visual indicator during actual camber and wheel alignment for consistency..

doesn't necessarily mean an actual number or measured degree.

when youre having the alignment done pop the hood and use that to adjust it, dont do it w/o during an alignement or you'll make it 10x worse

oh come on dave! its not 10x worse! lol I've adjusted the front and rear camber myself and it still drove straight

There's only so much to choose from lol I have the Hotchkis camber kit.

theres hotchkis and progress, but you dont need front so id go with hotchkis because the progress comes as a front and rear kit

how do you adjust the rear cambers? Im pretty new at the suspension thing and im waiting for my ssp to come in the mail. Installing everything my self.

theres a cam essentric at the end of the camber link,... theres so much adjustment there that you dont even need to buy a camber kit

one time i had -4.4 degrees of camber and my friend adjusted it back to -1.2

camber kits arent worth it unless its for teh front

^true, but if your still interested here's a little DIY I made yesterday, sorry for the low quality pics, there from my blackberry-

This is how the RIGHT REAR looks like installed


You have to loosen up the 2 nuts I circled


After that, twist the middle nut clockwise/counter-clockwise to make the control arm longer/shorter which in turn adjusts the camber.

After your all done adjusting the camber, tighten the 2 nuts back so its like picture one.

BUT like Dave said, don't mess with it, leave it to the alignment guys...I'm going on a canyon run tomorrow and I'm going to need the extra clearance so I adjusted them accordingly, after I'm done I'm going to put it back the way it was...

I adjusted the front too from the camber plate but I didn't take any pics.

oh thanks for taking the time to snap these pictures, but how do you know whether its for example -4.4 or 1.2. And are those hotchkins?

There's no way of finding out unless you get an alignment...I've gotten 5 alignments over the past year (dont ask why lol) and I've had my camber as high as -4.2* and as low as -2*. I know roughly how much camber I have just by looking at my wheels from the back and checking the gap between the wheel and fender.

and there HOTCHKIS, not hotchkins...

haha luckily i do my OWN alignments

i wouldnt run any less (?) camber then -2.5 unless you absolutely have to, i used to get horrible rides with it around -3 to -4 it just wasnt fun.

but yea i have done 5 alignments in a month before luckily like i said i do them all myself at work.


btw i had the camber links (hotchKIS) on my tC before i parted it out, and they were okay, but i regretted wasting my money after i found out stock adjustments work wonders. a lot of techs dont wanna deal with the stock camber adjustments because it takes some time to get it going and they'd rather adjust toe and go, but if you take it to a good shop (good dealership) they can adjust it with the factory adjustments. and dont listen to anyone if they say that theres no adjustements... .tehy are just being lazy, trust me i've said it hahaha

Freakin Dave! haha I need a guy like you here in LA so I could stop paying hundreds of dollars on alignments and/or stop doing anymore mickey mouse ones by myself

I didn't want to run -3 camber in the rear but I had no choice (other than raising it)...and yes, it rides rough, it'll be even rougher after I get my 12k springs for the rear....maybe lol still haven't decided

and WOW! I can't believe you spelled "hotchkis" wrong AGAIN, Domo... :facepalm:
