Default Toyota Northridge up yours!!!

Well, sorry to complain, but i just have to vent at Toyota's ignorance. I dunno if it's just this Toyota dealership, but i find it funny how their customer service department tries as hard as they can to not fix cars. I wanted simple things done that are under warranty. I have the infamous hatch rattle since DAY 1 of owning this car, it became more pronounced recently. I also have a rattle in the sunroof. Anyway, i call them up, make an appointment, take my car in the morning leave it there all damn day. Get a call at 6, Guy tells me the rattles are related to the lower suspension. Lol. He saw my hotchkis swaybars and TRD springs. Yeah u know, the springs that Toyota themselves put on their tCs and sell with warranty. Hah. Wow. This guy trying to tell me some rattling noise in my hatch is related to my springs was the funniest thing i've ever heard. I go pick it up wasting a day and tell him he's a moron. I'm not goin there anymore lol.

To play devil's advocate: Firmer springs will transfer more vibration to the rest of the car, thus having the potential to aggravate the natural tC shakes and rattles. *EDIT* just saw that you said TRD springs, I saw Hotchkis and assumed that applied to everything. Yeah, TRD probably should have thought that one through a bit more.

It sounds like that guy was just too lazy to try to fix the problem and jumped at the chance to use the springs and such as an excuse.

lol well, i know firmer springs could do that, but b4 i put them on the rattles were pretty bad. On the way home from the dealership i was drivin on a road that is not rough, but slightly bumpy, car's ride felt fine nothing harsh cuz of springs, but the rattle was still soundin horrid.

This might be a lil drive for you from Woodland Hills, but if you can, take you car to Longo Toyota in El Monte. They'll take care of you! They love seeing Scions w/aftermarket parts on em and cover you under warranty.

If you really want to get results, bring the car to the dealer and complain about the problem to the service guy. Since the car has been in once, do it another time. Say that it was not fixed and the problem existed before the spring. It is important that you have this documented on their service records. Threaten them with the LEMON LAW, which will force them to buy the car back and then you will see results. If the dealer can't fix the same problem over 3 visits, they are required to buy the car back. Good luck and don't let them run you because you are younger. Asses like these always think they can take advantage of younger people.

i know how that goes... i get the same treatment when I go in. my latest thing was ground wires voiding my battery's warranty so they won't do any diagnostics on it. so im stuck with a dead battery for now.

I also had the hatch rattle and sunroof pop! I have removed all of it almost with the addition of the Ingalls rear strut bar. That bar stiffens the rear of the Tc so well! Check them out ask around they work

Hmmm, could u just give me a brief explanation of the ingalls bar? i think i've seen something on it. I do get the occasional crack of pop from somewhere in the back of the car (not below in the suspension area though) from my springs or sways or w/e it is. But ya, i honestly don't have time or the motivation to go back to Toyota for something as insignificant as the hatch rattle. Yes, it annoys me, but as long as it doesnt affect my driving experience, i guess i'm ok with it. I might try a different dealership in the near future though.

I had the tsb for the sunroof rattle done and it eliminated the loud banging/popping of the sunroof. However I do have a little bit of a creak when I go around uneven turns because of the body flex. I think I may just get the ignalls bar to get rid of that...hopefully.

i took my tc in 3x for the roof popping ( when it was stock) and it still wasnt fixed. now that i have s-techs and trd sb, they will blame it on the springs. it cost them money to do (toyotas money anyways) tsbs, but it costs them nothing to jack you around.
