Default TRD Shocks and Springs

I am considering the TRD shocks and springs, but would like to know if they are worth it. I like the TRD springs, since I only want to drop my ride around and 1-1.25". Not so sure about the shocks.

Is there enough improvement in performance to just get the springs, or are both shocks and springs needed to really improve performance? Also, will dealers install them and how much are people paying for installation (just springs, or for both shocks and springs)?

i got the TRDs waitin for me to install. people say TRD springs can work with stock shocks but imma wait and get the sways and shocks together...also i hear dealerships charge too much on installation...cheapest way is to do it urself...or u could go to a respectable shop that has a good price...

I just got the springs...haven't installed them yet. I heard the ride is a little stiffer than stock but I didn't want the ride to be rediculously stiff so I didn't get the shocks. I just wanted it lowered...I don't need to go around corners at 90 mph.

I'm also planning to get the TRD shocks and springs. I don't have a tC yet but hoping I'll get the 2006 by the end of this month or next month for sure...so I really don't know how the ride feels with the TRD shocks and springs. As for you question about the installations and prices...well, I've been in contact with one of the salesperson in Longo Toyota through email and she quote me of $843 for the TRD shocks and springs installed with alignment included. I've heard here in the forum many times that if you have the TRD springs or any kind of springs installed with keeping the stock shocks...your shocks would eventually blow in less than a year because of having it lowered. I might be wrong but that's what I've read here. Like I said before I don't have my tC yet so I don't know if it's true. But if it is then I would get the TRD shocks to compliment with the TRD springs. Kind of a hassle of getting the springs then wait till the stock shocks go bad then you have to go through all that process of installing new shocks..ya heard?

Oh yeah does anyone know the ride quality of having TRD springs and stock shocks? and also having both TRD springs and shocks?

Is the $843 quote just for installation? Ordoes that include the price of the springs and shocks? Also, the TRD website (or some TRD dealer site) notes that the springs or shocks are designed to be installed together or separately. I would think the stock shocks would be fine if TRD is saying this about the springs.

If you get springs, I have the tein-h you don’t have to get shock but your car will be bouncy and it will get worse as time goes on. The only good shocks available for the tc are Koni and they are adjustable.
You can get them $270 (front pair) and $210 (rear pair) for a total of $480 at titan motorsport. Ask for Sean@titanmotorspost.com.

Sorry I didn't make it clear from my last post...the $843 includes the parts (springs and shocks), installation, and the alignment. Yeah I would think that the stock shocks would do fine as well since it's not a dramatical drop but like I said earlier in my other post that eventually it would wear out or blow faster compared to having stock springs. Also depends on how you want the quality of the ride. According to rcruz2525, the ride quality with just the TRD springs and tein h installed, it's bouncy. I'm still wondering how the ride with both TRD springs and shocks? Anyone have this setup? If so, how's the ride? Bumpy? Close to having stock springs and shocks?

I've done a search and looked at a few other posts. It sounds like the ride with the shocks and struts is a lot more sporty (even with just the springs), but not bouncy and you don't lose much comfort at all. Clearance is also good, even with the lower body kit. I think $843 for parts, labor and alignment sounds like a reasonable deal.

Right now I am leaning towards TRD shocks and springs. Just depends what my dealer, or other shops, quote me for installation.

I have the TRD shock and spring setup, ride is VERY nice and handling improvement is like night and day, could be due to the rear sway too I got it at the same time.

The TRD springs are very good for ride quality and cornering. The progressive rate spring however will give at the top and compress and stiffen as you corner. This makes for a good overall ride. However, if you are looking for a car that doesn't sway much you will need a linear spring I think... just my gathering from my own experience. I am going to swap my TRD sway bar out for a full Hotchkis setup sometime in the near future and see if it takes out some of the sway that is still left over.
