These measurements are after the drop. We measured 1.25" on the back, and 1" at the front.


What you need for this installation is a good friend who got all the tools you need. Springs installation is hard people! I really do not recommend it for someone to do it them self. Just pay someone to do it. We spent 5 hours. I think if we do it all over again after what we learned, we would spend about 3.5 hours. I was gonna do it my self and I am glad I asked for my friends help.

we had problems with the rear installations. Trying to take off the panels behind the rear seat was hard. Trying to take the rear shocks was hard also.

I did it this weekend, It took a little less than 4 hours, including brakes and going to get a spring compressor.

I did the fronts myself in about an hour. It was very easy, I just broke those clips that hold the cowl cover down. The 1st rear strut took about 45 minutes, the 2nd one took about 20. The rear wasn't bad, but if you want it to go quicker have a friend there.

I didnt take out the side panels in the trunk, I only removed the styrofoam, and rear seat hinge cover. This saved me alot of time. I used a braker bar snaked under the side panel and broke loose the single bolt on the front of the strut top hat. I used a ratcheting boxed end after I broke all the bolts loose in the trunk.

If you are by yourself, defiantely take off a sway bar endlink in the rear. It will allow you to push the rear suspension down easier and remove the rear struts. If you have a friend there, just have him put some weight on the knuckle behind the rotor to drop the suspension and get the strut out. You will need spring compressors for the rear, I found that out when I removed the rear struts.

Mark the strut and the top hat with paint BEFORE you remove the stock spring so you can realign them correctly(a dot of touch up paint on the lower mount and one right above on the top hat above the spring works for this). It is a PITA to reinstall if you dont get them aligned. Also, spray a little WD40 on the upper spring isolator in the rear so you can adjust the orientation of the spring\strut in the top hat if it is not quite right when you go to install it.

It is good to have a friend there to hold everything in place as you use the spring compressors.

You can do this job yourself if you have the right tools, it will just take a bit longer.

looks great. for me, we actually had problems with the front and not the rear. the rear was a breeze. one hour for both. front on the other hand took like an hour to figure stuff out and then another hour installing them.

 

Weird, for me the front was cake, you don't even need a spring compressor. I did need another jack to raise the suspension arm to take off the sway bar endlink. that was it.

 

Looks good. You'll love how it handles now. They may settle a little lower than what they are now, thats what they did on mine.

 

^^ I bought the springs used, so i think it drops all the way already. There was barely a room to take the rear shocks out. Kept getting stuck. Anyway, yes it handles alot better now. I have not driven real fast at the turns cause i know i need realignment.

oops. forgot to tell yall that i did the trd shocks and struts too. with the trd struts, they are much shorter than the stock. if you set the uncompressed spring onto the trd shock theres like a whole 4 inches or so that needs to be compressed. we thought i got a defected set of struts. turns out we only cut the bumpstop 1/4 but when we cut it in 1/2 it was manageable.

 

Makes me glad that I went and had mine done by Stylis at Precisonmuffler.com ! He did mine in about 70 mins! If you're in or near Milpitas CA, definitely go see him! I love the TRD Springs. They make my baby look niiiiice! Here's a pic...


The drop is perfect. I've had mine on for a little over a month and have yet to bottom out. (And we have some pretty crappy streets around here. Thanks Ahnold! ) If you're debating on getting these, like I had, the debate is over! Get them now!

I just wanted a sporty look for my car, not slammed or scrapping everytime I drive into a driveway or plaza. I love my TRD's

You should get an alignment after a few weeks. Got my alignment at firestone tirestation, lifetime alignment only cost me 125. Well worth it IMO

well me and my hubby are going to tackle this challenge today TRD Springs and Struts. We have all the tools I hope its a smooth process. The places around where we live are charging $400.00 PLUS (toyota dealership) to install both and thats to much in my book. Your car looks great BTW

all your guys' tC's with TRD's look real smooth. Do any of you have bigger sub boxes in the back? my back hangs lower then the front with my trd springs bc i have such a flippin heavy box. anyone else? Oh btw, make sure you do get an alignment after installing. I waited about a month bc i was so busy with work and school i had no time for an appt but i didnt actually realize how hard it was pulling to the right. big difference anyway.

 

Patrick I got 2 JL 13' and a box that weighs an elephant and yea it sets my springs about 1/4" lower than the front like yours. I thought the dealership installed them wrong. I might switch to tien h-techs for a more agressive drop and ___-end balance
