Default TRD Strut/Shock Settings/Questions

I probably won't get these until later in the year, if at all, but I was considering upgrading the shocks/struts to the TRD units while running stock springs. Why would I do this without the springs? I've been using the tC for autocross and I've been competing in H-Stock. Class rules allow shock changes but not spring changes. However if there is not enough difference between stock there isn't much point. If not, I could just get the Koni inserts, although I'd rather not gut perfectly good stock struts.

I have two questions. The first is regarding ride height. I've seen conflicting reports with the TRD struts/shocks using stock springs. Will the ride height be the same, lower, or close enough to not tell the difference? I understand the shock itself is shorter, but has the location of the perch changed? It doesn't really matter either way, just curious.

The second I'm not sure if anyone on here knows the answer to. I was wondering how the front and rear bump and rebound settings of the TRD struts/shocks compare to the stock units.

If you want to still run H Stock, get the Konis. They're 2 way adjustable and H Stock legal (last I checked). That way you can just set them to the stiffer setting. Will probably be better than TRD.

I believe they are only 1-way adjustable, at least the yellows (rebound only)? The reason I thought about the TRD shocks is because of the way the tC is designed. I don't think you can adjust either of them easily while they are on the car (rears need removed and trim covers the front?). I also didn't want to gut the stock shock units.

the TRD springs and struts don't fall under stock since they are an option on the car?

i've tried to put the stock springs on the trd struts... the trd struts are a shorter throw ... with 2 spring compressor me and my buddy couldn't get it compressed enough to mount them. we felt like since we will be riding so high the ride would be very bouncy since the strut is not in its natural position aka riding on springs only. i couldn't do it...let me know how it works for you and the ride...maybe we will try again

The springs can't be installed for the stock class but the shocks can be changed.
