Anyone got pics of the stock sway bar on the car and an aftermarket sway on the car?

 

hotchkis are red, I think stock was black? i forget.
it's not really something you get to really show off though.

 

anyone have a accurate estimate of how much lateral g force the tC can generate?

 

I believe it was .86 G stock by the testers numbers, but skidpads can vary greatly. So with what I am running I dont know. I am running Avon 550's, trd springs and trd sway. I would say given the difference in the handling it would be over .9G possibly, but that is just a guess. One of the many projects I would like to start is a built in auto calibrating accelerometer system... maybe when the weather gets cold here I will spend more time on the design projects

And as mentioned, you cant see the stock or the aftermarket sway under the car, so no one really has pictures that I know of

 

I just put the TRD rear sway today and I definitely feel a difference! (I set mine on Track) You WILL notice a difference on the first turn you take at a decent speed. Ride quality doesn't seem to suffer.

Install is fairly simple, but word of advice. Keep your mouth shut! While snaking in the sway over the exhaust, I had I mouth open and ate a whole lot of crap.

On a serious note, I turned my head once right before a lot of that stuff came down on me. It hit me in the side of the head. If I didn't turn and it hit me in the eyes, I think it would've hurt.

Also, that's the first time I ever put my car on ramps and went under. While lying on my back and working on the car, I kept feeling dizzy. Does that happen to anyone else?

 

I think I will save up for the sway bay. Is it easy to install?

^^ No. You can feel the difference with the stock suspension.

 

Sway bars are the best thing since sliced bread.

I looked on trdsparks.com and I noticed that the sway bars from hotchkis is different than the trd sway bar. The Hotchkis has two bars and the trd only has one. What is this difference? And which would you guys recommend getting? Hotchkis or TRD?

 

hotchkis has an additional front one...it replaces the front


if your serious, i mean seriously going to be cornering, get the hotchkis...

other wise, the TRD is plenty for me....i love it

 

How is the progress sway bar? I saw its a solid unit versus the others which are hollow. Which should I get?

 

Wish there was a way to get a seperate new front sway bar for the TC. I got the TRD rear bar which I like but crave a little front end upgrade now.

 

i dont think trd makes the front one's.. it would be best to upgrade with the same brand.. i.e. front hotchkis rear trd.. the front would be much stiffer than the rear causing suspension torsion.. so if you wanted to upgrade your front best reviews here is to go with hotchkis and sell your trd.

i personally love my trd sway. i think its just perfect for the everyday driving car with significant handling improvement.

 

if i remember, Hotchkis does make the TRD rear sway, and also the TRD strut bar. The TRD rear sway has 2 holes and the Hotchkis has 3?

 

yup.. trd has 2 holes and hotchkis has 3.. trd has smaller diameter sway than hotchkis

 

Yeah, selling the TRD is an idea, although I hear the front sway can be a bit** to install. So unless I get somebody to do it (like a shop with a lift) im kinda tired of killing myself getting the TC up on jack stands and still having no room to work with.
