Does anyone have both front and rear sway bars that can compare it to just the rear. I am not sure if i wanna spend the extra 200 or so on the front as well as the rear if there is no HUGE difference. I have neither now and am looking to get one. If i get the rear it'll be the trd for 119, if i get all they will be hotchkis for 319. Any suggestions

And keep in mind i am no auto crosser. Just the occasional back roads racer.

The other nice thing about suspesion mods is you do not affect gas mileage and most of the time you do not have to spend time tweaking or fixing problems like engine mods that most aftermarket MFG like to mess up.

I have had a sway bar change out on my last three vehicles and love the improveements they make. My old truck was so much fun to throw into a corner.

Ok now, so what are anti roll bars compared to sway bars...

I was searching and found anti-roll bars that claim to do something similar

Sway bar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A sway bar (also stabilizer bar, anti-sway bar, roll bar, or anti-roll bar, ARB) is an automobile suspension device. It connects opposite (left/right) wheels together through short lever arms linked by a torsion spring. A sway bar increases the suspension's roll stiffness -- its resistance to roll in turns, independent of its spring rate in the vertical direction.

They are exactly the same thing, its all just semantics.

To the comment about the effectiveness compared to other mods I totally agree. An intake is sound and looks. Header and exhaust will produce peaky gains that never come close to manufacturer specs in real life. And in the long run produce minimally noticeable gains. A stiffer sway, or set of sways produces an immediately noticeable effect. When you think about it, how often do you push your car hard enough in a straight line to really notice the 10 - 15 HP difference you get with a pile of bolt ons? Suspension is something you feel anywhere from normal driving to hard cornering. Very good area for bang for your buck mods.

And about the OT..... enjoy that! I am 100% salary.. OT for me means my effective $/hr goes down

I'm a part timer in retail and OT for me gets me fired cause it's been a slow month. You know what that means? It'll take about three paychecks for me to get a sway bar with springs.

To get some perspective, compare hours of labor to % gain in performance.

A 20 hp gain is only a 12.5% increase in performance and will cost at least a header. A swaybar (TRD set on Street) is already 39% stiffer and switching to Race is free for a 64% increase in performance.

So say for I/H/E it'll cost just 300 dollars while just springs and sway will cost 300 dollars, never mind $/hr going down, look at the huge difference in hr/performance. Suspension is definitely worth it.

^ Not to mention you will realistically not gain 20WHP with a header when you consider the effect AFTER the ECU catches up and the fact that it is not over a huge part of the band. With power mods, peak hp means zero in reality. The nice thing about suspension mods is that you can feel the difference throughout the range of driving. You can spend a few hundred bucks for a very nice, noticeable increase in performance. And outside of the straight liners, that increase will mean more than even a 30whp increase on the track.

Yep thats what i was looking at. But TRD is 119, and progress is 199, so i'll probably get TRD.

And OT rocks for me, i work for a union make up of money hungry bastards, so i get paid rediculously for my time. I love it. I worked last month, just 2 days (16 hrs) OT and TOOK HOME $500 extra after taxes, thats 32/hr AFTER taxes, i love this place , but OT isn't always around so im taking as much as i can now, and soon i'll have my sway bar and my scan gauge II

^^ oh I work PLENTY of OT... I just dont get paid anything for it But I cant complain, I also get paid well and dont lose money if I miss work or take vacation :D I guess there are always trade offs!

You will be happy with the TRD. Put it on the race setting (inner holes) and you will be set. I have never run mine on street, the race setting has a perfect balance of performance and ride quality.
