Default Warranty?

If i were to order Tein S-techs (or any other non TRD springs) for my tC would it void my warranty?

What if i were to buy them and have toyota/scion install them?

Any help?

p.s. - how low is the drop on the TRD?

nothing ever voids a warranty. The warranty will always be there. What will happen is if the new springs cause a problem, then the fix wont be under warranty work. But the warranty will still be there. IT ALWAYS WILL. You payed for it. (You can change everything on the car except the VIN number and you will still have your warranty. Will they perform work for free....probably not.)

The trd drop is 1.5 inches.

^^^^TRUTH!!^^^^

The original car and it's parts are under the warranty. The mods..... on your own. I hope a salesperson didn't tell you you could void your warranty by modding your ride.

FYI - TRD springs are considered a non-scion part (even though it's all toyota) and if they cause problems, scion does not cover repairs. I think a lot of people go with TRD for warranty purposes not realizing this, and end up wishing they had a more aggressive drop. If you're considering TRD springs simply for warranty purposes, reconsider.

ask ur local dealer, they may or may not install non toyota products. some do, some don't
as far as warranty, unless ur TEIN springs cause parts to go bad, ur warranty is not voided.
i.e. ur springs blow ur stock shocks, ur shocks would not be covered.

What if u had the tein S-techs and messed up ur struts and/or shocks and then immediately put the stock springs back on.. would toyota know?

Probably not. As long as the OEs look like they've been there all along.

i would normally be ____ed at something like that, but that is something you could most likely get away with that one..not as obvious to spot
just gotta make sure the OEM shocks/struts weren't tampered with

Actually, the drop is just a bit less than that. To be more precise, it's a 28mm (~1.1") drop in front, 33mm (~1.29") in back.

You need to read the fine print bro. This is out of the scion mag available at all dealerships.

Looks like you guys warranted some stuff ya didn't have to. That sucks. And the reason there's minimal wear on the tires with the TRD is because the drop isn't drastic enough to mess with camber that bad. The springs don't fix the negetive camber. There really aren't any significant benefits to TRD unless you like the way the drop looks.

seein as how u were a mechanic, u should kno this one
TRD parts are covered by TRD, not Scion. but its basically the same thing, so dont everyone get their panties ina bunch
Toyota looks at TRD parts as factory items, so no worries
But just beware for future ref., TRD is NOT Scion

not trying to be rude here or anything, but if you are a mechanic, shouldn't you know how to spell suspension?

sorry, I had to

and maybe little fine print details like this are why you USED to be a mechanic there

WEAR AND TEAR is not part of warranty.
correct me if im wrong but it seems like we are talkin about dropping your car on S.tech's and having your shocks blow out on you and you expect the dealer to replace it...

thats almost the same as saying, i drove 20k miles and my tires are bald, i expect the dealer to replace them because its under warranty.

as someone already said. warranty is actually SPECIFIC to the car.
chasis warranty, body work warranty, engine warranty, sunroof warranty, interior warranty, etc.

only way to void your warranty is if the part is in direct connection in contributing damage.

CAI sucked in water which caused your engine to break. obviously ur engine warranty is voided because aftermarket part caused it and driver error. but other parts of the car still have its warranty.

^^^^Right. That's what I'm saying. If your TRD springs cause damage to your suspension in any way, it's not covered by scion.
