Where do I start?

Where do I start?
So I recently got an older tC. (2005 to be exact.)
And I'm really into the whole offset scene. (i.e. Hellaflush, Stanceworks, etc.)
However, I don't know alot about doing things yourself, when it comes to cars atleast. So I'm kind of forced to have a shop do these modifications since none of my other friends know how.
My question is, where do I start?
What parts should I be looking into and how much will it cost?

One of the things you could do would be to google what it is you wanna do.
If you are looking to do a coilover installation, you can google those along with scion tc and I'm sure you'll find at least one thing.
Also joining a Scion owners club also helps if one is in your area. Lots of those guys and gals have experience working on cars and often have install meets where they work on each others cars and you get a chance to learn while you do the work yourself.
Do a lot of reading. Cars and modification of cars can be very technical at times, just like any other similar field (computers, medical, law). So make sure you do lots of research and remember, google is your friend.
And when you're googling, dont assume that the first link is the only answer...or even the correct one. There is as much opinion thrown around as fact on various websites to make anyone nutty. Just keep that in mind.

Im new to it to bro. If your going for hellaflush or aggresive, definitely take a look at the aggresive wheel stance pics as well as the other pic threads in wheel/tire section.
From what I've learned the parts your generally gonna need will be..the wheels/tires of course,coilovers/springs,spacers,camber kit, aftermarket lugs and getting your fenders rolled/pulled.All I can think of atm, if theres any more or if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will step in here eventually and give you all the info, but those you def need to look into depending on exactly how you want your stance.Prices will vary depending on what exactly you get.Their cheap and I'm still a bit sketchy but look into the raceland coilovers, thats if your just going for the looks,I wouldn't recommend em if you do any real hard driving.
Like spectre said do alot of reading and dont chit yourself when you scrape/rub

Haha, thanks man.
Yeah, there's a ALOT of learning/studying ahead of me
if I'm even thinking about doing it myself.
There's a lot of cars with good fitments and stance around
where I live, but I doubt they'd want to go through the process
of helping me understand everything. Lol.

Good luck in your search. I too admire those crazy dudes riding around on the wrong fitment. It looks amazing. The only advice that I can give is: Get Coilovers! If you really want to get aggressive with your tC, don't make the mistake that I made and buy springs that you 'think' will be low enoigh. Go with a nice set of coilovers and you will be off to a good start. But do your research, some coilovers don't go low enough for others.
