Default Will tein s techs rub with my setup? Please Help

Ok I know this might have been answered somewhere, but trust me I have searched for days and read through hundreds of post before I decided to make a new post.

Ok Im going to buy some lowering springs and I really like the low look of the tein s techs. I am really confused because I have heard so much good and bad about every spring made for the tc. My question is, will I have problems with the tein s techs rubbing on my tires? I have 18" Tork Imagine Rims sitting on 225/40/18 tires, The stock tc tires are 215/45/17. I am not to good at figuring out what these numbers are but I am sure there is someone out there who knows if it will work. Thanks in advance for any help.

That is a tough call. Tires differ in size from one brand to another. The best bet is to find someone who has the same set up and see how his/her set up feels.

You can always roll the fender to make them fit if you don't want to get new tires.

What offset are your wheels?

You prolly are good to go, maybe some rubbing issues which isnt gonna be that bad. You can roll your rear fenders and just deal with some rubbing in front. And offset in simplier definition is how your wheels wi0ll stick out/tuck in relation with your fender; a positive offset (bigger number 40,45,4 will make your wheels tuck in or away from the fender and a negative offset (lower # like 37,35,30 down) will make your wheels more flush closer to the fender.. its not the best way to describe it but its easy to visualize it that way.

^^ its to bend that L shaped metal in your fender so it will free some space for your tires to move..

it will if not done carefully. A heating gun will be recommended when doing it at cold temperatures.

You dont have to roll em. Just have to cut a tiny square of plastic in the front wheel well. Its the little bump in the plastic where the fender bolts to the bumper. Just cut a small square out and you'll be rub free...

I had this exact setup on my old car. s-techs,18x8,et35,225/40/18

^^ thats a good way to do the front so it wont rub against the plastic liner (the front fenders isnt an issue but the plastic liner). But the rear fender will be an issue depends on the setup so rolling will help

so you had the exact setup and didnt rub in the back? So you just have to cut the front plastic.

I had this exact setup with kumho MX 225/40/18 and I could load the car up and have no rubbing issues. I know all tires arent the same (i.e. rim protectors... like falken tires) but my wheels would tuck the in the back when the car was loaded and rubbing. Speed bumps and all

You will rub,how much ? It depends, i have kyowa 18x18 with a 35 offset sitting on g-forces 225/40/18. I bought these wheels before doing my homework on offsets. Once you get people in your ride its gonna ____ you off how much it actually rubs. But if its just you in the car youll probably be okay, maybe. I dont drive my car everyday. But if i did it would drive me crazy. Im also on tein-s

ok, I have decided I dont want to worry about rubbing at all, so what do you all suggest? I have heard good things about tein h techs, hotchkis, and h&r. What are some other high quality springs that will give me a good drop with no rubbing?

It WONT rub but if you're worried just get a higher offset like 40 or so. Its not the springs that will make it rub its the offset. You can always use a 215/40/18 tire but its not necessary

18x8 et35 Enkei NT03 225/40/18 on s-techs. 35 offset still sits in a little bit

trim the plastic in the front, and use a tire that doesnt have a thick (rim protector like falken) sidewall and you can load the car up and the back wont rub. The kid who bought my car in the pic lives on my street. If I see him me and a bunch of my friends will get in the back and take a picture lol. But it will work.

I have nexen 5000 tires, I dont think they have a rim protector or not. The more I think about this I think I am going to go with the h techs. I dont want to have any problems with rubbing and I need my suspension components to last. I dont want to have to remove the s techs, sell them in the classifieds, and then reinstall h techs. It is way to hard to decide on springs. H techs are on sale for $158 shipped right now so Im probably gonna get them soon.
