Default zinc plated rotors

I am in the need of some zinc plated, drilled/slotted rotors for my car. Two piece would be awesome, even though I dont really need it. Maybe axxis ultimate pads? I have been getting my car ready for minor road race courses but I know I will be getting into bigger courses later on in my days.

Ya im thinking about calling Joe or Paul from Dezod to see if they can get me the drilled and slotted ones. Im really looking to get zinc plated so they dont rust as easily. Any opinions on pads?

I have the Brembos on my car and they are great. A little pricy, but it's worth it. The blanks come from Canada and are drilled/slotted here in the US, so they are less prone to cracking than blanks from overseas where the metal quality is not as high(read: CHINA/JAPAN). Canadian blanks tend to be of higher quality.

If you plan on tracking the car, rethink the drilled aspect of your decision. MANY track cars that have drilled rotors crack them over time. Unless a rotor is actually cast with the holes in place, I would stay away from them (unless it's in DD situations). Two ways of looking at it are: 1) Rotors are a wear and tear item that can be easily replaced or 2) Rotors are a long term investment that you may not want to replace every couple of years. Depending on how you think about it should tell you what kind of rotor you want to buy.

Zinc is a great finish; the rotors will not rust whatsoever. They stay shiny, too. If you see rotors advertised at Cadmium plated, second guess it, because the EPA restricted (not banned) the use of Cadmium in applications such as this.

Also, be careful the pad/rotor combo you buy. Many rotor manufacturers warn that using a race compound pad will severely hurt braking capabilities when using a specific type of rotor. In other words, not all pads and rotors work together.

Take your time and find out what you really NEED as opposed to what you want or what may look good, because that may not be the safest/cost efficient route.

Thanks guys. MJ where did you get your rotors from so I can research them more. Im gonna take it one step at a time, getting the rotors first then finding a pad that would accompany the rotor.

They are on my C5. I never put rotors on my tC, but I got them from TireRack.

Personally, I'd go with some type of slotted rotor to prevent glazing, but in the end it is your call.

It probably an interchangeable term.

Cadmium is extracted from Zinc and behave similar in terms of preventing oxidation, however, it has a higher toxicity than zinc.
