Default 1 tire size for 18x8.5 and 18x9.5?

Is it possible to get 4 identical tires I can use for this staggered set up or will it be funny? I'm just thinking about having to rotate in the future. From my research it looks like I could do 245/35/18 or 255/35/18 all around.

If I do get staggered tires, are those the two sizes to get for the wheels?

well if you got 4 identical tires, it wouldnt be staggered. Would need 2 sets of different tires and wheels. But yeah your getting the hint with the sizes.

The wheels would still be staggered. To rotate them you're going to have to have the tires removed and remounted if you want to keep the wider wheels in the back. If you don't care about that (a proper set up for a FWD car is to put the wider wheels in the front anyway), then you can rotate them. And of course the tires on the 9.5s will be more stretched than the tires on the 8.5s.

I'd put the wider ones in back - I don't really care about performance. I understand I'd have to have them remounted, but will it look weird? I'm not sure how much the 1" in wheel width difference would make in the sidewall appearance due to the stretching.

I don't have pics of the sizes you posted, but here's a 225/40 on my 9.5" Rotas and a 225/40 on my 8.5" Works for stretch comparison.

Tire brand can make a difference, but it's usually not too drastic.

That's too stretched for me, I'll just go staggered, thanks! I like my tires wide.

No problem. For no stretch a 235 on the 8.5s and a 245 on the 9.5s would be good for 40 series tires. If you're going with 35 series, then the sizes you posted will be good.

I realized I have 235 on my 8" wheels now so I'm thinking of going 255 and 275. It seems like 265/35/18 doesn't exist.

Thanks, although that site is sort of the opposite of my tastes. I don't like stretched tires.

At least I can see what 255 looks like on a 9.5": http://www.tyrestretch.com/9.5_255_35_R18/

Seems like 235/35/18 is really rare so I'm gonna go with 245/35/18 up front and 255/35/18 in the back. Potenza RE760 are looking good to me.

Any thoughts?
