Default 235 mounted on 17x7 wheel! Pics!!!

just wanna show everyone a pic of a wheel i bought

its a lexus is300 stock wheel, 17x7 50et with a 235/45/17 michelin pilot sport tire!

bought it used for the wheel only, i just thought it was pretty neat that it had such a meaty tire on it. the guy i bought it from was boosted and needed the extra traction, as you can see he ran it till it was slick, lol, with absolutely no issues!

here are the pics!

just for those wondering if its possible or safe, this dude was pushing 350whp!

i needed a spare rim, and this is not about the wheel, its about the tire mounted on a 7" wide wheel, same specs as the tc's stock wheels!

I dont think anyone qeustions if you can put a 235 on a 7" wheel. Plenty have done it.

The problem is that you are most likely not getting all the performance (Especially cornering) out of the tire that you could if you mounted it on a 7.5" rim.

The owner of those I would say ran his tires a bit too long.. you think ?

^yep, definitely too long! lol

i know this would definitely kill the handling aspect of the tire, but traction in a straight line would definitely improve on those boosted fellows looking for traction, lol

That's it exactly. Just because something can be done, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. In this case it's NOT a good thing, and anyone who feels otherwise is fooling themselves. Now if we were talking a 50 series or higher aspect ratio, then the application would be ok, but in this case it's a mismatch that's not recommended by either the wheel or tire manufacturers.
