245's over 225's: is it worth it?
I'm rollin on 18x7.5 Sport Max 009's and they're heavy (+25lbs). I really like the finish of my car so much with the black on black look. I'm also very performance oriented racing in some autocross mainly for the fun of it. Looking at picking up some O.Z. Ultraleggeras in Silver: 17x8 or 18x8 (17-18lbs) with a 245 tire. What I'm asking is whether those of you with 245's think its worth upgrading from a 225. I'm S/C'd so added traction would be great.
The other option is to carry the Ultraleggeras as a spare set with racing slicks for competitions, something not to ideal for the street. But if the added traction is worth it, I'll upgrade to 245's for the whole summer.

245's add a lot of traction due to a lot more surface area. It is definitely worth it.
If you're looking for performance, go with 17x8's with 245/40R17's. I believe that's the proper size.
If you're getting tires, go for a good summer tire...

i do believe if you are running 18's you will rub with 245's... plus the added weight wouldnt do you any good. with 17's that size is fine.. 225 is the perfect tire for the 18's.. for an all year 'round tire look at the toyo proxies 4. These are the tires i will be adding to my Advan RGII's (18x very soon... Good luck...
