Back to the basics...
I cannot seem to find any basic information about what the different numbers mean that you guys are talking about. I know I want 18" chrome rims but I do not know what tires work for it or what I should be looking for. I really need the basic information to get started. For example, the post made by "WeDriveScions" about "What wheels and rims fit the tC" makes no sense to me so how am I supposed to benefit from looking at that chart. If someone can just give me a quick run down of what is important to know in getting new rims that would be great!
Also, what are some good sites that you can recommend to even LOOK for rims? Everyone posts their rims that they bought, but where are people going these days to find nice chrome rims?
Any help with patience would be appreciated.

The first number is the diameter of the wheel and the second is the width of the wheel
For example...
18 x 8 = 18 inch wheels with a width of 8 inches
For 18 inch rims, a width of 7.5 or 8 inches is usually the standard
Also im not sure if you are asking about the offset of the wheels.
(for example...+35 or +40...and so on...)
Try here

for any questions on how the tires may fit, try here
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...e.jsp?techid=7
That should answer any questions you have
Also some good wheel sites are:
www.wheelfire.com
www.wheelsnext.com

www.tires.com
www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com
I hope this answers any questions you have

You would get a good tutorial of tire specs at www.tirerack.com
225/40 = 225mm width of the tire.. 40 is the sidewall, or 40% of 255mm = 90mm would be the height of the sidewall.
www.tirerack.com shows you all of the markings on a sidewall, a crash course in tire tech.

I am looking at a nice set of 18's at 7.5 width. Now, the tires are 225/40 and as far as I understand this is a standard tire profile? I guess I am just ensuring that the tire sidewall height size is considered "low profile."
