Best rim/tire combo for performance/ autox BBS 18x8?
Ok so I'm def not new to the drivetrain/performance upgrades but I'm a 100% noob when comes to fine tuning the wheel/tire combo. I plan on getting the TRD supercharger before too long and im stiffening up the suspension a lot with these upgrades:
TRD rear sway bar (race setting)
TRD springs
TRD front strut bar
Greddy rear strut bar
Megan c-pillar bar
Ingalls engine dampener
Dezod end links
My question is, how do I get some good looking rims while maintaining, or even improving the driving/handling performance? Where is the sweet spot? I know if you go too small it creates problems (i.e. bicycle tire syndrome) and if you go too big you throw off the suspension geometry as well as increase engine strain, have rubbing issues, etc...
I was thinking about going with some lightweight BBS 18x8's wrapped in a relatively sticky compound. It seems like that 1 extra inch of contact patch (stock is 7in) would be appropriate for the amount of hp I'll be pushing (going for 225hp to the wheels). Anyways, let me hear some opinions!

i run rpf1s for autocross and they are great. they seem to be the wheel of choice also. make sure you check the class regulations on rim width, cause 8inch wide ones will throw you into stx or higher

so wait ur not new to drivetrain and power but ur going to go with a TuRD charger? id rethink that. Front and rear Strut Bars dont make anything better, and a c-pillar bar really doesnt do anything. besides that the springs and sway bar is a good start. I would go with sumthing lighter like Enkei RPF1's or sumthing along those lines

Dont go with 18's. Stay with 17's. Also, as mentioned, check the rules for the class you want to run as wider wheels can put you into a class where you wont even remotely be competitive.
And to add to what has already been said, strut ties do little to nothing on the tC. C pillar bar will do even less. Springs, rear sway and good tires are the way to go first.
