Default Burning out in 2nd

Okay, so I'm not quite burning out in second...but if I'm driving hard and shifting quickly, I naturally burn a little in 1st but I almost always screech when I shift into 2nd. Is this because my tires are stock Potenzas? Or does the tC just have a lot of torque?

it means you came relatively close to power shifting.

hmm...well I'm relatively new at driving a manual. I learned on my tC. What am I doing exactly? Shifting too quickly?

Practice makes perfect. Pretty much you are giving it too much gas and letting the clutch out too fast. Give it a little less gas and let the clutch out a little slower. Don't ride the clutch though and don't bog it by not giving it enough gas. Really it sounds a lot harder than it it. This is where the practice part comes in. Every car is a little different so you need to find the right spot for this car. If you know someone that can drive a stick have them ride with you while you practice and they can give you pointers.

Don't worry the car will be fine as long as you don't make a habit of doing this all the time. The BS tires are pretty crappy which makes it even easier to chirp them.

does this mean when i shift into 4th gear in my camaro and the tires spin like a mother.... and smoke, im shifting to fast?????.....no just kidding guys. if your car is stock its not to good to do cause you are dumping clutch to fast or to much gas. our tc's have just over 160ft. lbs of torque....no power house thats why i have a camaro with ove 500 on the engine and almost 800 on bottle

yeah just don't dump your clutch as much as you probably are now. and get on it a little easier if you don't want to spin through 1st gear.

Thanks for all the replies.

So...what are the long term effects of power shifting? Is this why people upgrade their clutch? So their clutch can take the abuse?

Also, a little off topic but what's the proper RPM to burn out at in 1st?

people upgrade their clutch for abuse. but because their engine has more power than their stock clutch can take. powershifting is horrible with or without an upgraded clutch.
