Default Few Tire Questions

Hey guys I need some new tires for my stock 17's. I have winter wheels and tires, so I am looking at getting some Summer tires. I am looking at the General Exclaim UHP. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these tires?

Also I would like to get some new 17's in the future. I am thinking that 17x8 would look the best and keep the wheel flush with the fenders. What size tire can I run on the stock wheels that will also fit 17x8 in the future. Also I am dropped on S Techs.

17x8 with an ET35 will sit flush to the fender. You may be able to get away with 225/45R17 as the tire size, since you are dropped on S-techs. If you go with 17x8 ET 45-48, you can go with 245/40R17 but it will not be flush. For summer tires, you may want to look at Falken FK452, Sumitomo HTRZIII and Toyo T1-r.

so 17x8 +35 will sit flush and I will need 225/45R17?

Is running this tire size OK on the stock wheels?

EDIT: After doing more research wouldnt I need 225 /40R17 or 225/35R17? 225/45R17 would have a higher sidewall than stock right?

You do not have to go with a 225 series. A 215 series will fit on a 17x8, but it would be a stretched look. A 225 series will sit better on a 17x8. The reason I say 225/45R17 and not 225/40R or 225/35R is because 225/45R17 is closer to the tC's overall diameter than 225/40 or 225/35.

I'd look into Kumho Ecsta SPT (in the same price range) or Proxes, as mentioned before, over Exclaims. I know a few people that really don't like the Exclaims...

I think that the Exclaims will work for me. I do not track or autocross, just like to drive aggressively and take turns quickly. I have not updated my suspension other than S techs, which are purely for looks. I am just looking for something with better than stock performance.

I think everyone is saying the Proxes4 tires.. not the other toyo proxes tires. just cuz there are some different ones out there.

I'm referring to the T1Rs. I don't know if they make it in the stock wheel sizes though.

yeah i checked out toyo's website for the T1R's, and yes it comes in the stock size of 215/45-17. here's a link to their pdf file.

And to everyone who's reading this, the T1R's are not all season, Summer only. But for everything but cold temps, I think it's a great tire too!
