well im gettin some 18x7 rims 42 offset and wanna know wat tire size would both run the best but still have a stretched look.

Also what are the pros and cons? Will run the risk of damagin my rims if they are more stretched?

this style is really big in the VW world, where im coming from. go to www.vwvortex.com and search the forums for "streching" or "poke" your sure to find all the info you want. they do some really crazy streching. some guys are running 15 x 9 with a crazy strech. a 7in wide wheel going to look funny stretched. go wider or go home.

CONS- Your handling will suck as will the ride comfort and you run a greater risk of blowing a tire. finding a shop to put them on will also be hard since i think it may be illegal in some states.

PROS- on the right car it will look SICK! not sure how i like it on TC but on an oldschool dub it looks great

Basically, you ruin the stability of your vehicle, but at least you'll look cool when your flipping over.

Don't stretch tires just for the sake of stretching tires, do it only if you need to. The VW/euro guys and VIP/Drift guys only stretch tires in order to clear fenders when running wide wheels and/or low offsets in combination with a really low stance. Stretching tires is usually a neccessity when you want your rims super flush/ or slightly past the fenders.

Stretching can help performance to a degree by stiffening the sidewalls, but at a certain point, it quickly reaches diminishing returns. Also, your rims will be more exposed thus more prone to damge. Plus, your tire sidewalls will be more exposed to road inconsistencies and debris.

The cons of stretched tires mainly depend on the severity of the stretch. You could definitely get the look down by getting 18x8.5 and running 215 tires. That would be a very mild stretch plus you'd still be within the the tire's max rim width.

On a 7" wheel, a 205 willl fit just right. To stretch a tire on a 7" wheel, you'd need a 185 or narrower tire. Since the stock TC tires are 215/45 IIRC, you probably don't want to go narrower than stock. I think 215/40/18 should work fine. You probably wanna wait for a TC guy to confirm.

Ive noticed alot of drifters stretch their tires on 240s and stuff so they can run the widest lip they can...cons....you can destroy your wheel pretty easily, alot of tires now have bead protectors built in.

so for 18x7, would 215 35 18 be the best size? or 225 40 18

For an 18 inch tire, 205 is the narrowest you can get. On a 7 inch wide wheel, a 205 will fit perfect. So you cant stretch fit a tire on 7 inch wide wheel.

The only reason you should stretch fit a tire is for clearance issues on a low offset, wide wheel on a slammed car. I have a 225/40 tires stretched on a 9 inch wide wheel. I plan on getting a little wider tire next time (235). You can see the wheel poking out below.

18x8.5" on 215/40/18 over here. nothing extreme, really mild stretch.

i saw it all my years living in europe. I think it looks horrible. Its the thing to do on VW, Peugot, Fiats and cars like that. Deffinetly not a tC tho.

Pros - May avoid rubbing issues
Cons - Less rubber to protect from curb rashes/potholes

on looks... well that it very subjective... but i think it is the stupidest, ugliest trend yet... it is on par with the trend a few years back where everyone was riding with all 4 tires sticking out 10" past the fender ... but as a post above said.. whatever floats your boat.... not to mention it is just plain dangerous depending how far you take it..

on 7" rims.. i think a 215 would be fine... im running a 215 35 on a 7.5 19" rim... it has just OH so slight of a stretch.. (not my doing. i bought it like that new off the lot)... im going to go with a 225 35 next when im due for tires...
