Default How to tell if you need to rotors

ok..i have and 06 tc....the other day i noticed the car squeaks when i drive it and squeaks even more when i stop...i check the front brakes there fine the rotors are all rusted dont know if thats normal or not how would i tell if there worned out....im hoping that the rotors is whats causing the noise when the wheels are moving....what do you gies think

i know for a fact that is something with the brakes cause it makes the same noise while im going and more when i stoping maybe the pads needs to be replaced or sanded down...not sure...think i should post some pics i think it would be helpful..this is the drivers side im not on the passenger side so i cant tell

i don't think the rotors should be squeaking when you're moving. The only time you'll be hearing any squeaking from the rotors is when you brake (pads and rotors contact).

If the pads are low enough, there is an "indicator" that will start to rub the rotor to tell you it's time to change them.

Check your pads (and the condition of the rotor!).

yea i got the same thing in my rear brakes. happens at slower speeds and more so when braking. my guess, like ^, is that the pads are worn and its the sensors. i'm gettin new brakes soon so ill let you know if it stops after

well i had my breaks check out today....turns out to be my rotors as i suspected they are worned...and my pads have plenty of life to them...the rotors have grooves or creases in them big ones which affected the pads with uneven wear and making metal to metal contact..they temporarly fixed it until i get new rotors....which will be done soon...its weird on how they explained it to me...but they said if your getting new rotors i have to get new pads to go along with it...so i think i need a brake job

that is strange the pads are good and the rotors are bad. It is usually the other way around.

very strange....the pads had grooves in them i guess from the rotor from what i was told could be true could not be...but the pads itself had plenty of life....if you ran you nail flat against the disc you can tell right away theres something wrong...the pads could of done it to the disc some how got worn down to the point where its was scraping the pads making scraping noise...im not a mechanic but from what i saw..

i dont know if its normal or what..but i had a few budddies that had bad rotors and screwed up there pads..i guess from rust or weak metal...

if you cahnge your pads,be sure to at least have the rotors turned for a flat new surface or the problem will jsut come right back.

U can get rotors turned for $40.00. Yes u need to replace the pads. Heat from the pads cause the rotors to worp which, causes brakes to pulse and grooves to form on the rotors. Once the grooves apear the pads start to wear unevenly. which can cause poor braking. I am on expert on cars but, i do now something about maintaining one myself.

I forgot good ceramic pads are no more than $50.00 per set. ceramic causes less brake dust
