Don't do the 215/50... Why don't you try the bridgestone blizzak ws-50 215/45/17 from tirerack.com

those don't have as good a rating as the MICHELIN PILOT ALPINE PA2 or BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK LM -25

id say the Michelins, your main goal in the winter is to have thinner less wider tires if infact it does snow.
