Default I thinkk its the tires....

So last night i pull up at a red light next to a red grand prix... whata pos... so i think im the ____ lol and i rev my engine and look at him and he def wants to race... the light turns green and low and behold my tires burn and then they like grip but dont grip and the front end of my car starts to f***in jump off the ground.. like vibrate... so i let off the gas and regain my grip on the road and take off redlining it trying to catch up to his 2 sec lead... eventually i roasted him and beat him by 5 car lengths.. but basically i think those bridgestone potenzas i have gotta go... so what do you recommend i do cause im not sure if thats the problem or not...

ohh and so you know, there are some grand prixs we can beat, but there are also alot of grand prixs that will devour our car. So it all depends on what year and trim you run into.

1989 Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo 7.2 15.3 (AM '89)
1990 Pontiac Grand Prix STE 7.7 15.6
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix STE 8.7 16.5
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (auto) 8.4 16.3
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 6.6 14.9 (Car Craft)
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 6.8 15.1
2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. 5.7 14.3 (C&D Oct '05)
1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3100 (auto) 8.8 16.8
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 6.5 14.9

A STIFFY (engine torque dampner) will help you take care of it.

Then you will just have wheel spin. The tires not being so great make you spin. The flex in the motor mounts allow wheel hop.

And yes, there are some grand prix's (especially modded ones) that will eat your lunch. The tC is not the sports car of the year.. it is a zippy 4 banger stock.

there are many factors in tire traction, i asked because i have the same tires and i have the stiffy and still get wheel spin. a 4500 rpm drop is alot for a front wheel drive car... you want a solid launch try a lower rpm... before i had the stiffy i raced my friend from a dead stop at about 2500 rpm launch and still had wheel spin...

Um, 4500rpm is WAY too high. Try 2500rpm next time. And just drop the clutch or let it out really fast. I mean, you CAN launch at 4500rpm, but you'll need to feather in the clutch as you won't get any grip at 4500rpm off the line.

that was definately a bad launch... way too much revs, try more like 3500k... the point of a launch is not to peel out at the light and scare the person your racing into giving up... lol. Or make them loose by laughing, so they can't drive.... lol

although if you want to you can do a burn out just before the race to heat the tires and increase traction. but if you both roll up to a light that would be just a little hard

All that will do on street tires is waste tread. Does nothing but make you look dumb for trying to heat up street tires :D

An even better idea though to all of this is to RACE ON A TRACK

GENIUS... next time try launching at 6000RPM.
It gives you even more traction.
