Default If You Want Actual PEFORMANCE, Do This!

Our racecar is shod with 17x8 Enkei RPF-1s with a 35 ET. We also run a 5mm spacer. We have 225/45R17 Nitto NT-01s, and if our rule set wouldn't penalize, we'd run a 235 or 245 series tire.

If you're serious about performance, try something like the above, albeit with a street and not race tire, unless you're planning on tracking your car of course.

I'm running 17x8 A-Tech Finalspeed Erasers with Falken FK451 GR-B 245/40-17. Rollout within .5% of stock.

I've got the same setup minus the spacers (and with Falken RT-615) and I rub under hard cornering; I can only imagine how bad it could be with an extra 5mm

Honestly, you really shouldn't be rubbing. We've had ZERO issues. Perhaps your suspension is too soft and/or you aren't running the negative camber we are. Tell me exactly WHERE you are rubbing. We of course don't have any plastic liners on the racecar.

Rears are rubbing slightly against the inner lip of the fender and my camber is -0.65. I just installed a larger sway bar since my last post, so I'll see if that did the trick. And yes, I still have my plastic liners.

ETA: Problem solved, H&R sway bar fixed it.

Yep, plenty of guys over on yoursciontc.com running 245s with great results. The classing in autox would suck for me running that wide, but I have thought about it myself. Obviously you need to run an 8inch rim to get the benefit the 245s

We have a similar issue with our classing, but the car could really use the extra width. As it is we really have to manage tires to get through a 30 minute sprint. A 245 CAN fit on an 8 inch wide rim, but actually works better on an even wider wheel. Still if you've already got 17x8s as we do, it certainly isn't awful running the 245 on 'em. Similarly, guys in our old Nissan days wrapped 225s on a 15x7, but the footprint would have been better on a 7.5 or 8.

I dont mean to threadjack, but I am looking at wheels that are either 17"x8", 18"x8", or 18"x9.5"

I dont want rubbing and I want to know which tire size(s) I should get.

EDIT: oh forgot to say this, my car is lowered 2"

it all depends on offset.

if you have a 17x8 with a +45 or +35 and a 225 tire you wont rub, but if you have a 17x8 + 25, chances are you are going to rub.

and 18x9.5.. wth this is a fwd, no need for that large.

your best bet is a 17x8 with an offset somewhere inbetween +35 and +48

that will fit fine, but tire size must be considered as well.

anyone running a 16" wheel.

what about a ~16x8.5 and a 245/45-16. You can get a lightweight 16" rim and it is only .1" larger than stock.
