Hi guys,

I've been searching the internet in vain for the weight of various 17" wheels. Why does nobody (or almost nobody) ever post how much their wheel weighs on their website?

I found an old 2003 web article from Sport Compact Mag giving the weights of some wheels that were new in 2004 but the weights listed were usually for the small wheels ( 15" or 16")

Anyone know a light-ish weight wheels for less than $200 each? I know light = expensive. I just mean less than 20 lbs.

I was going to go with the Axis Mag-Lites but they don't come in the tc bolt pattern.

I was considering the Rota Attacks and I think I saw that the 17" weighs in at 18.8 lbs and cost about $200 per wheels.

The Gram Lights look nice but they are too much $.

Any other ideas? Or which websites include the weights of their wheels?

I'm getting 15" Konig Heliums that are under 11 lbs. The 17" are 19.8 in Bronze, 16.2 in Silver. Here's the link to Konig's website:

5zigen Fno01r-c are cheap and light...maybe you can try 16s to get lighter and cheaper.

If you can spend a bit more, Motegi Traklites or Enkei RPF1

The ones I know of that are in the 16-17 pound range and are somehat affordable are these:

Enkei RPF1 ( I bought them for my car and they are just under 16 lbs each)




The OZ Superleggera is a little bit heavier in the 17lb range but not bad at all:



Theres also the OZ Ultraleggera which is similar in weight to the Superleggera:



The lightest 17s I know of are the SSR Comps that weigh about 14 lbs but also come in at around $400 each



You might also want to look into the Enkei RP02 which is a lightweight wheel for a cheap price but not all that attractive:



Ive been on a lightweight wheel hunt for the past few months and just got the RPF1s in 17x8 +35. My car is in the shop so I havent installed them yet, but they seem to be the best compromise for lightweight, nice looks and good price.

Wen they don't list the weight, it's usually because it's not somthing to brag about or was ever intended to be light.

Enkei wheels are generally very light. I'm personally looking at the Flik Hornet wheels (17x7, 35 offset, 17 pounds).

check out edgeracing.com flik wheels are decent weights i had a set of 17 inch fuels in black they were 17 punds a rim and i just sold them because the fuel came out in bronze now

The problem with lightweight rims that are inexpensive...when you go over a pot hole you're going to bend the rim. Seen it happen plenty of times to a friend of mine. Save up for a little bit longer and get some traklites ;) I swear by those...

That's why i'm going with 17's - more tire underneath. When I change wheels, though, i'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Take a look at the 18" Kosei Ki-TS rims. Even thought they are 18"s, they only weigh 16 lbs, much less than our 17s. Couple this with the fact their appearance is similar to our stock rims and they only cost 245 apiece on tirerack, and you can't do much better.

I hear ya, if they fit, they'd be on my tC now...they may be my favorite wheel of all time. Thanks for starting the thread, I had the same question.

I saw that a while back, and thought it strange that they'd differ so much. I'm thinking they made a mistake on one of the weights, but if so, then which one? Any idea why the bronze color would need to weigh >3lbs. more?

If in fact they weigh 16.2 pounds, I'd agree they're likely the lightest for the price.

Keep in mind if you are planning on going Big Brake Kit. You will need at least a 17" wheel for them to clear the rotor + caliper.

You want light weight + dependable + style. You are gonna pay at least 400 per wheel.

I was quoted 2,400 for a set of BBS rgr + Yoko prada spec II tires. Thats the lowest I was quoted for that wheel/tire combo.

Wheels - Lightweight, Reliable, Cheap

Cars - Fast, Reliable, Cheap

Women - Pretty, Sane, Available


Maybe, they're actually "bronzed" as in coated in actual bronze? And the wheels gradually oxidize and turn that green shade with age?



Actually, I kind of like that look. I was going to go for a basic 5 spoke design. I was hoping for some slightly thicker spokes


Regarding the whole cheap & lightweight = easy to bend. Dang. I hadn't really considered that. Is it that bad if you've got a 17" wheel with 45 rubber? What kind of rubber and tire was your friend running? How deep was the pot hole?

the trak_lite's are the one I would like to get...but they are pretty darn pricey

No doubt. I just bought a set for autoxing. Wheels and tires cost me $1800.

If you want a 5-spoke design, get the SSW Trex... They're so hard to get right now though...
