Lug Nuts painting question
#3
ya i don't think its a good idea..you can pull it off i think if there prepped right and than only put them on by hand with a breaker bar (or well if you want to get technical because i know some people are to specific a torque wrench) but that's the only way i can see them not chipped. even still that way you have a chance of scraping the edges of the lugs as you tighten them or indenting the painted edges

I do anodizing, though i havent done any hardcoat anodizing yet and that would be best for a high wear item like lugnuts, of course with hardcoat green will be a tough color/near imposible to achieve, going with green with standard anodizing wouldnt be bad the coating is just not as thick, also not as hard. all this means is that the anodizing will eventually wear off especially if you take them on and off alot.
I was doing some anodizing earlier today and the anodizing layer was about .001"
here are a couple places found with google search
http://www.poly-metal.com/hardcoat.shtml

the trick with alot of companies is doing smaller batches like lugnuts
