Default Matte Black Rota Grids on AP tC?

Hey guys, so recently I have been on the hunt for new wheels. I got my eyes on some, but the seller overpaid for the product and basically got screwed and thinks he can pass that on to me. They are Rota Grids 18x9.5 et38 and come with Nitto Invo's (255/35/1. He is trying to sell everything together for originally $1900, but right now I think its not worth more than $1300-1400. Thing is, tires/wheels have about 50-55 miles on them because the seller didnt like how wide they were and didnt want to roll his fenders. He also said they were rubbing a lot (he didnt really even camber his wheels at all, so I assume that is why).

So my questions are if you guys think it would be worth buying. Currently I dont know if its worth dropping that much on new wheels but I definitely need new tires soon. I dont know if I want 255/35/18 tires either because to pull those off low id definitely need to roll fenders and camber, and personally I am not a huge fan of a lot of camber (1 or 2 degrees would be fine, but nothing really more appeals to me). And finally, the complication that the Azure Pearl tC color brings to the table: literally only a few colors look good with it. So would matte black? I am on the fence with this one and wouldnt mind some advice

Happy Holidays!

At that ride height, pulling off a 255 width tire will be hard, and that sounds like a ____load of money for rotas anyway. You could go into discount tire and pick out a ton of decent wheels for that price. Personally, if I was getting a 9.5 width wheel, I would go with a lower offset than 38, and a stretched tire

FYI $1300-$1400 for those wheels + tires is what you could get them for brand new..even if they are barely used that combo is worth $1000 tops...if you have that kind of money to spare your better off getting a much higher quality used wheel (works, volks, etc..you'd be surprised what you could find) or just buy those rotas brand new.

As far as black on an AP tC..I think it would look fine..black kind of goes with everything, it's just a matter of if you like the color wheel or not..I personally think it would look pretty good on your color.

A 255/35 tire is a damn meaty tire too..probably would have to turn around and sell the tires and get a smaller size (225 or 235 maybe?) and run a bit of stretch if you want to try to run minimal camber but you're most likely going to at least need a fender roll with as low as you currently are.

My advice? Save a few extra bucks, by the wheels brand new and get a tire size you are more comfortable with.

I agree, if your maxed out on the drop with the Rokkors, there is not a chance you will be able to pull off 255/35. I have the same wheel specs with 225/40 and I am rubbing in the front on turns with -2 camber, and had to put in -2.5 camber in the rear to clear, all 4 fenders rolled.

Id pay $1000 max for them.

I seem to have bad luck with finding wheel deals, I have yet to find anything that great that I was willing to get right there. The thing is though, to get that setup new for $1300-1400, you'd have to have some connections. The cheapest I have seen the wheels selling/new were $900. But I get what you mean, I definitely do want a less meaty tire.

Yeah, I guess ill keep my eyes opened, just have not found anything I love right now, thanks for the help.

Well, I still got like 10-12 threads in rear and 12-14 in front, so haha. I was considering raising the car to be able to fit these wheels, but yeah to get that look its gonna be a little challenging and at costs I really dont want to take. Thanks for the help.

on 18x9.5 you could run 215/35 or even 225/35 and be fine. I bought a set of 18x10 grids off here a while back i think i paid like 800 and that was with 2 tires. I wouldnt pay over 1,000 for rotas, if you're gonna dish out that much cash it's worth it to just save and buy real wheels lol

Cobija if you have over $1000 saved up just save a little more and get a set of quality wheels.

Check out the classified area there are some deals there frequently.

The Azure Pearl looks clean with flat black, bronze, or gunmetal.
If you like Enkei,SSR, or Wedsport they decent prices coming up for the holidays.

Good luck finding some wheels.
PS. If you were in Central Florida I could hook you up with a local dealer that sells top notch wheels.

Yeah well, I thought maybe $1300 for a good set of tires with barely any miles on them would be OK.

Well, I dont have $1000 just for wheels, the thing is is that my dad wants to get me the new tires, and said he wants to get me tires that will last and in his mind that is ~$200/tire. So I asked if I could get some wheels while we are at it, and my thought was to spend at most $400-500 on wheels.

Thanks man, I bet there are a lot of places in Cali, I just gotta keep looking.

Look at XXR wheels if that is your current wheel budget.
