babiblujay, I have a question for you, are you an aggressive driver or are you doing it mostly for looks?

if you are aggressive then I would recommend 17s but get wider ones like 17x8 and a nice grippy tire. I would also recommend the Hotchkiss Springs and Sway package from TRD Sparks: http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...1&parts_id=656

If its just for looks then go for a 19" and the TRD springs should be fine.

I'm not an aggressive driver. I'm doing it just for looks, and hobby. I just want to know i can. haha. I do drive aggressive SOMETIMES. usually when I'm on an empty road.

I think im going to stick with 18s. i wanted 19, but can't really find rims I wanted.. and kinda afraid of rubbing. plus, it's waay more expensive.

o, and also, if the TRD CAI isn't CARB approved, what is? AEM? I want one with a bypass valve so my car doesn't hydrolock... had that happen once in my old car. i was on the freeway with my mom and grandma in it... baaaadddd....

I dont know if any of the CAIs have been CARB approved (yet another reason i will NEVER move to california willingly..... hawaii has its own screw you laws to deal with)

As for the 19s there a dealer installed option so the rubbing should not be a problem so long as you get them in the proper offset. But you need to raise your price on what your willing to pay for 19s. Unless you have the best hookup ive ever seen on wheels and tires, your not gonna may much less than 2000 for 19s. And thats lowballing it.

Lastly, i have the TRD struts and springs and sway bar sitting in my house still waiting to go on my 2.0. If you are ordering from TRDSparks, you midas well shell out the lil bit extra and get the Struts/Springs/Sway Bar package. Its worth it.

That is true, I have yet to see one that is CARB approved, and usually its for the same reason that I stated before, its that they dont pay to have the certification / approval. Most would pass the actual emissions tests though, but from what Ive heard its quite a bit of bank to pay the CARB to approve.... it just sucks lol

Where in Nor Cal are you? I know of a few shops that Id trust with anything but it depends on where you are at.

Oh ok, I know where that is. Well the shops that I know might be too far then, one is in San Jose, and the other is in Milpitas. If you want, when I goto visit my parents though I can see what I can find, they are up in Elk Grove which is just south of Sac.

Either that or you can post in the Pacific-Mid Forum and ask if there are any known good shops for that kind of work near the Davis / Sac area..

Surprisingly I like Kuhmo's, they wont get much notice for brand, but they stack up nice to the competition and are an excellent price.. ( I tend to go through tires pretty quick, thanks to my heavy foot and my supercharger )

I have the Kuhmo ASX tires
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...ance&tc=KUMHV5

but if you want better tread design look at these:

Kuhmo AST
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...ance&tc=KUMHH0

BF Goodrich g-Force Sport
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...ance&tc=MTAHZI

BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...ance&tc=MTAHZH

Just a few picks from me lol

Here's some valuable info for you about wheels, tires, offsets, etc...

Info Center

Check under "Speed Rating" and it will tell you what Z rating is. BTW-I've never heard of Sonar tires. So I couldn't tell you if they are any good or not.

i googled sonar, and it seems to be a highly used in japan. maybe its a good thing?

scratch all that. i'm going with wheelfire.com
they allow a much better selection of tires. They also mount balance and ship for free. I'm going with them.

here is what i'm getting
hp racing 5 split black rims with falkon 512 w-rated tires. treadwear:360

About shops, I got my TRD Springs installed and my Exhaust at Precision Muffler in Milpitas. Just "search" for Stylis. He's a real cool guy and will hook you up.

Yes! I drove 150+ miles to get my chit installed. At the time, no one locally was working on tCs. I heard about Stylis here on SL. We PM'd each other back forth. I drove to Milpitas, he installed my stuff, then I drove home happy.

Another reason I went there was that he had (at the time) lowered over 50 Scions. He knows what he's doing. I didn't want my tC to be the 'guinea pig' for others.
