My son has had Nexen tires for over 20,000 miles -Not a days trouble. He auto cross's and drags the car. Ask your friend if he tried to do donuts with the car? I have various types of tires on my 6 cars, -Mazda 3 Nexen- d3000 +/-$80)(Great auto cross tires over 20,000 miles), Porsche 911(250hp) Hankook Venturas +/-$80(Cheap tires and they are the greatest to auto cross with 15,000 miles). -BMW 545i Michelin Pilot AS +/-$200(still new), -MX5 Yokohama ADVAN A11A +/-$230 (20,000miles), Scion TC Yokohama ES 100 +/-$105(12,000 miles)
Anyone can have a bad experience with tires. I had Dunlop SP Sport 1 run flats on my BMW – I hated them. They cost +/-$400 each.

ive had nexen n3000 on my car for about 10K miles and they still have tons of thread left (more then half i would say) luckily, mine say made in Korea!

to simply say two tires exploded because the tires are crap is not valid enough to me, he could have had too much air(which tire shops sometimes do) too little air, or he might have ran over something( which would explain two tires blowing out at the same time!

has everyone forgotten the good old Firestone days and their recall from all ford explorers! Crap can come from anywhere!

yeah i've had these on for 1K now, my dad has been running them for a long time. we both haven't had a problem.

just because the guy was running nexens doesn't mean crap. these kinds of things could happen to ANYBODY.

For those that didn't check Ack's link, nor the article that it refers to, here's the poop;

The tires in question were distributed by Foreign Tire Sales Inc. of Union, N.J., and sold under the brand names Westlake, Telluride, Compass and YKS...

^ wow really!! mine grip just fine, ive taken really tight corners, and they start squealin when i seriously push it!! i think for the price they have very good grip!

now wet traction is scary, even when they were brand new!

^i feel the same way, to those of us who dont have high horsepower, dont drag, and dont autocross, these tires are fine, and super cheap!

meh might as well chime in

i've had nexen n3000's since February of this year

pretty decent - still about 50% thread left on all tires

dry traction is good
wet traction sucks
i haven't had any air leaks thus far
tire pressure has been constant ever since i've gotten them

around christmas i'm gonna swap them out for toyo proxies 4

not a bad tire though

7/10
